Yay Communism WTF is wrong with people, commemerating decades of killing and oppression I know its from fox news but its fact. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,557823,00.html
Mildly, its an american landmark Damn, i thought the communist movement would take few years.... guess not
http://www.nytimes.com/1998/05/25/opinion/essay-the-china-connection.html from 98! the conspiracy theorist in me is still stating that Lewinsky gate was a red herring for Clinton-China-gate.
You know the building was scheduled to be green for the wizard of oz, but when some iranian protestors in the us asked for it to be green coincidentally that same day, it suddenly was changed to be red. You think the people in new york would favor china over iran?
This sickens me. I have no problem with Chinese people in general, but to pay honor to something so horrible is not right. Maybe next they can pay their respects to Hitler and and his killing of the Jews? Or the Iranian's who captured our hostages back in the late 70's - 80's? Maybe they can light it up like the rebel flag and play duealing banjos to honor the KKK? I mean what the fuck people?
it is odd that they are doing that for China. I appreciate history, but there are certain things that don't seem to make sense to honor with lighting up of the ESB. But they also do it for Columbus day too. A day we celebrate that started the massacre of several thousand Native Americans, including the extinction of several tribes..and in essence the birth of slavery. But hey, he 'discovered' America. Although actually he didn't (and not just because there were people who already lived here). I wonder if they'll remember to do the one on October 23rd....
Columbus definitely did not introduce slavery. That was going on long before him. But I'm pretty sure his crew killed more than several thousand, as I understood they basically killed everyone on the Dominica island.
He didn't introduce the concept, but he surely sped up the introduction of the importation of slavery from Africa into the continent.
Not even close. Slavery has existed as nearly as long as humans have existed. It pre-dates written history. BTW, "Indian tribes" on this continent enslaved "Indians" from other tribes thousands of years before Europeans even knew they existed. African tribes enslaved Africans from other tribes thousands of years before the first European mimicked them. Various Caucasian cultures enslaved their enemies and religious foes throughout history. America is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the list of offenders in sheer numbers, and came very late to the party. Unfortunately, it occurred right when worldwide communication finally started to bloom. Slavery is still practiced in areas of China and many African nations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo_slavery
"China gets treatment that other dictatorships can only dream of — a free pass on human rights," said Arthur Waldron, a history professor at the University of Pennsylvania.
