So i was just thinking, with all this talent, where are the minutes gonna come from? Im gonna try to show what i think should happen in terms of minutes... put your thoughts up as well...

PG: Miller - 26 min, Blake 18 min, Roy 4 min

-Blake gets the shaft here, i dont know he would complain but it would be a -7 min drop for him

SG: Roy 30 min, Rudy 18 min

SF: Batum 20 min, Webster 20 min, Rudy 4 min, Roy 4 min

Ouch for Rudy and Webster in the last two positions, Rudy is still under 24 min in this scenario and Webster is only getting 20 min

PF: Aldridge 36 min, Outlaw 12 min

Uhh, Outlaw wants to make money out of this world next year (via his twitter) not sure 12 min is gonna be enough

    C: Oden 29 min, Pryz 19 min

So as you can see, there will be lack of mins but i guess thats to be expected with such a stacked team. I hope it doesnt bring down our chemistry.

BTW: Cunningham, Pendy, Ime, Bayless, and Howard get 0 mins in this scenario...ouch

    PG Miller 28, Blake 20
    SG Roy 22 Rudy 26
    SF Batum 24 Roy 14 Webster 10
    PF Aldridge 36 Outlaw 12
    C Oden 28 Prz 20

Webster/Batum depends on performance. Outlaw, too bad.

Depth is a blessing and a curse, especially with so many youngsters on their rookie deals. I can't imagine this lineup holding to its present form for a whole season -- something's gonna give.

    PG: Miller 28 Blake 18 Rudy 2
    SG: Roy 32 Rudy 16
    SF: Batum 18 Webster 12 Outlaw 10 Rudy/Roy 8
    PF: Aldridge 32 Outlaw 16
    C: Oden 28 Prz 20

Batum Starts games plays first 8 min's and then sits most of the 2nd. Starts 3rd 8 mins sits most of 4th, used mostly for defensive stops.
Miller Starts with Blake getting 10 minute runs that start in the 1st and cut half way into the 2nd. Same idea after the half

Roy plays only when we need him and if we are up by 16+ I think Nate will rest Roy and LMA more giving the other time to play and I think they are ready to step up and hold onto a lead.

Not that big of a problem as long as everyone on the team doesnt expect to play more than 2 QRTs a game. Webster is starting off with only 12 mins a game as he aclimates into the flow of NBA ball again. I could see him taking Outlaws&Batums SF time if hes the shooter we've been looking for.

While you never hope for injury or illness, it's part of the game. The reason to have great depth is so you can continue to compete and win games when you lose a player to injury. No team makes it through the entire season without at least a few minor injuries, illnesses, suspensions or personal absences. So, the average minutes will add up to more than 48 per game per position.

Last year, Blake, Serio, Rudy and Bayless averaged a combined 85 MPG. That's a lot of minutes for one starter and three reserves. However, they all missed multiple games. It's not like they combined for 85 minutes every game. And none of them had any major injuries last year (Blake's shoulder was the most significant injury - which freed up more minutes for Sergio and Bayless). So, I think the minutes will work out fine. If anyone gets shafted, it will likely be Bayless as I picture Miller, Blake and Rudy combining for nearly 85 MPG between them. Which means, barring a major injury, few minutes left over for Bayless.

Christ. Even with those splits there are some players who are getting severely under utilized.

If the addition of Miller and the improvement of GO/Batum/Rudy (the 3 I expect to really become more consistent and larger volume contributors) pans out - there is a good chance Roy can be limited to 32-33 mpg to keep him fresh for the playoffs.

Exactly. I don't know why there are ppl assuming he needs to get 38 minutes with his injury history. I hope he averages 35 minutes and frequently waves towels after 30 minutes in blowouts.

Rudy should be fine with 24-25 minutes, as should Batum.

I believe Miller will play at least 30 minutes once he settles in.

    A couple of generic predictions.

First, there is a pretty good chance that Oden and/or Pryz will get banged up and miss a few games. This will cause some major reshuffling.

Second, Batum starts at SF, with Roy or Outlaw getting significant minutes (depending on the match-up). 50/50 Webster breaks down at some point, and for the season only gets around 1000 minutes.

Third, whether Rudy emerges as a "6th man of the year" candidate, or is just another reserve, depends on how well he meshes with Miller and Roy in a "small ball" line-up.

    A couple facts.

Roy will play 35+ minutes per game.

LMA will play 35+ minutes per game.

Might as well lock those in.

Secondly, I don't see any way that Miller plays less than 28-30 minutes per game. I think he's going to be that valuable to our team.

I would LIKE to see Oden play 30+, but I'm not going to get my hopes up just yet.

Also, I think the minutes at small forward are going to shake themselves out. I think at least one player will step up and take that position. Whether it's Webster, Batum, or Outlaw. Someone will claim it. When they do, I think they will get the lion's share of the minutes.

Lastly, I really feel that a trade will happen before the deadline. KP has to thin the herd a bit.
