1. Roy 2. LMA 3. Joel 4. Blake 5. Batum 1. Miller 2. Rudy 3. Oden 4. Webster 5. Outlaw I'd take Oden/Webster/Out over Joel/Blake/Batum, but Roy and LMA are too good for me to say the bench is better than the starters.
That lineup is going to be relentless. Other teams won't have a moment's reprieve. If it does end up being: Blake/Roy/Nico/LaMarcus/Oden and Miller/Rudy/Martell/Travis/Joel, my god that second unit is going to kill. I'd pay to see our first and second units play each other. But the first unit would win.
PG: Blake < Miller SG: Roy >>>>>>> Rudy SF: Batum > Webster PF: Aldridge >>>>>>> Outlaw C: Przybilla < Oden
The two units are pretty close, but LMA and Brandon heavily tilt the field in their favor, the one thing you'd have to worry about is Miller getting Oden rolling to the hoop and Martell, Travis and Rudy would all be able to space the floor like mad. Somehow I get the feeling the starting unit is not going include Blake, Pryz and Nic; perhaps one or two, but no way do all three hold on to their spots.
Wait, one of those groups is our bench??? Four years ago we started: V. Khryapa T. Outlaw T. Ratliff S. Telfair S. Blake
Batum is the only one I expect to hold onto his spot. Well, Przybilla might to start the season, but I think Oden will be the starter in short order, barring a catastrophic failure (either in ability or health).
Rudy/Oden/Webster are better than Joel/Batum/Blake, but Roy and Aldridge are just too good. I have a hard time seeing Batum keep his starting spot though.
Brandon Roy is far and away the best player on our team so whichever unit has him is the better unit.
But that is just a stupid coaches gimmick. "Don't worry Blakey, you're the starter..... you aren't going to play most of the game, but you're the starter." If Miller plays the Lion's share of the minutes, of course he'll be happy, but it's still stupid. Start the best player.
so last season the lakers, spurs, mavs, nuggets, blazers, jazz, etc were all stupid for not starting their best 5? really, saying "start the best player" with no regards to how guys play together and how to get the best team on the floor all game is what's stupid.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/2006.html LOL this site has Martell at 6-9 in 2005, woops! And holy cow, look how far we have come. Krappa starting?!
Every time I think I have fogotten this horrific lineup, someone brings it up again. I am surprised that team won even a single game in the NBA.
