With Donnell Taylor and Quinton Hosley recently waived by the Blazers, the remaining guys fighting for the 15th and final roster spot are Jaron Collins and Ime Udoka. Who do you think will make the team and why? I think Udoka will make the team because Quick said that he won't make the team and we all know how often Quick is right. But seriously, Udoka is a Portland guy and was a fan favorite, not to mention he could be the veteran SF that our team needs. He could also play some 2 when need be. He is familiar with Nate's system and with a lot of our players since he was here a few years ago, so he won't have a problem fitting in.
By the reports I have heard, it sounds like Ime is the front runner. Nate really likes him. I really like him too and hope he makes the team. Though it don't make any sense with the wings and players that can play the position he plays.
Ime will be signed for sure. There's no way he'd sign that contract without some kind of assurance from the Blazers that he'd be signed for the season if he worked hard in training camp. I think the Blazers just gave him a non-guaranteed contract because they had already invited people for the 15th spot.
I like Ime... and I wouldn't mind seeing him on the team, but I also could see keeping around another center. Tough call.
I voted Collins, but I have just as much confidence in that pick as I do the Packers beating the Vikings tomorrow night (ie. not much). The way I read it: If Ime is signed I'd wager you'll see some kind of trade before February where we send out a wing (and others?) in some kind of consolidation move, if Collins is signed he'll just be the emergency depth 5 in the event Joel or Greg misses any time -- which almost certainly will happen and add up to a handful of games combined.
Collins, we need another big unless Howard can play some Center for us in the event of some injuries.
Collins. I think Collins will be more valuable during the trade deadline. Many teams are small and arent rolling with a full roster in order to save some money. Teams looking to fill out their roster and fill needs for the playoffs may want a guy like Collins.
