Oddly enough, even with my intense hatred for Blake's game, I realize his three pt. shot might be very useful in the future.

He plays defense, he's a pretty good passer and he drives a little bit, he can't shoot a lick from outside of course, but I think this team has enough perimeter players as it is.

Beyond that you have to wonder if Memphis might be persuaded to trade Conley and some other throw-in for some combination of 3 Blazers role players :dunno: (doubtful)

I would love to get Battier and Lowry on this team though.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ygcutae

    Miller/Blake/Lowry
    Roy/Rudy
    Battier/Batum
    Aldridge/Howard
    Oden/Przybilla

I think Howard has enough in the tanks to be the primary backup at the four. Lowry is the third stringer until next season, when Blake leaves for free agency.

    Consolidation trade! :)

    Miller/Blake
    Roy/Webster
    Johnson/Batum
    Aldridge/Howard
    Oden/Collins

Only reason why I threw Johnson's name out there is because he said he is going to opt out and become a free agent this summer. Maybe Atlanta would be scared of losing him..... Either way, I know it probably wouldn't happy.

In principal, we don't really need a conventional "consolidation" trade, where we simply trade away more players than we get back. What we need is more role players who would demand few(er) shots than the guys we give away.

Who should "realistically start" on this team that isn't? Maybe Joel might get screwed, but other than that, Martell, Batum, Travis, Rudy, & Blake are all role players. Maybe some of those guys could start on bad teams, but on one of the top teams in the west, they don't deserve anything more than what they are getting now. They are all fringe starters. They aren't near the level that Roy, Aldridge, Oden, or Andre Miller are at. I don't really see the problem. As long as Nate gets the best players or combination of players on the floor and they get the most PT, that's all that matters.

Batum? He's a glue guy and his role will be to provide defense and make the open shot.

Webster? He hasn't proven ANYTHING yet. He's coming off an injury and he's been erratic his entire career.

Rudy? He's a dynamic player, but is he starter material? How is his defense and can he take the pounding for 82 games with heavy minutes? Right now he's a great 6th man.

Outlaw? All he provides is offense and he's a liability on defense and rebounding. He's a black hole on offense and if he's not hitting his pull up jumper, he's useless. He's still too one-dimensional to be a starter.

Blake? He's a great 3pt shooter and helps space the floor on offense. But he's unable to penetrate and break down a defense. He forces Roy to be the primary ball handler and that makes our offense predictable. When he's on, he should be on the floor, but when he's not, thank goodness we have Miller now.

None of the guys above are stars. They shouldn't be treated like one either. Roy, Aldridge, & an emerging Oden should be what is taken into account when deciding who fits best with them.

5 maximum if you want to include Rudy. Everyone else can suck it and be a role player. If they don't like it, bye.

Another "hot" quote from that Yahoo article:

Nothing like making things harder than they need to be.

I think Dre is going to be fine on and off the court and I think Roy will find his groove sooner rather than later, but we are getting off to a bit of a rocky start this pre-season. At least no major injuries so far - knock on wood.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I actually think Roy's numbers may go down this year, simply because Oden is going to be more of an offensive force.

Lowry had a PER of 10.5 in the playoffs and shot 33% from the field. :dunno:

Intense hatred for Outlaw doesn't mean he hasn't proven he's worthy of shots.

If he's OK with being 6th in line to get his touches, that's fine. If not, peace out.
