http://blog.oregonlive.com/mapesonpolitics/2009/10/former_blazers_star_looking_at.html I remember Duds being one of the biggest "good guys" ever to wear a Blazer uniform, and won multiple NBA Citizenship awards for his charitable work. I might vote for this guy.
Oregon could do A LOT worse than Dudley for it's mayor. Super smart, loves the state, most likely pro active in bringing in another major league team.....and no, soccer doesn't count.
I just think of Schwartzenegger, lifted weights and got elected governor. Apparently thought he could shake his fist at the budget deficity and it would go away. All the things he ran on behind the recall have gotten a ton worse. I really like Duds and I really hope he stays out of electoral politics so I don't have to go picket him.
Anything to weaken the Republican party's chances of winning works for me. Never known for voicing his opinions or getting involved at all at any level of politics, Chris would be a ridiculous choice for such a huge responsibility.
I'm not a fan of anybody in an office like Gov, US Congressman or President unless they have a good track record of accomplishment such that strongly qualifies them. That said, I didn't read the article yet and have no idea what his qualifications are, but those types are usually duds (had to say it).
If Obama has proven anything, it's that someone with almost no qualifications can get elected to any office, even the highest one in the land.
I'll wait to see what positions he takes, if any, on the issues of the day, but the fact that he's considering running as a Republican, in Oregon, doesn't speak very well for his political acumen. barfo
I'm going to bet no. After being a US senator, governor of Oregon can't be all that appealing. I've always had the idea about Gordon that he wasn't in it for the power, but for the prestige. barfo
You misinterpret my remarks. I don't hate Gordon (I don't think he was any great shakes as Senator, but I don't hate him). I am cynical enough to think that no congressperson is in it purely selflessly, however. Yes, that goes for liberals as well as conservatives. So no, I don't think Gordon was in it purely for public service. He could have volunteered at the local homeless shelter if that was his motivation. I wish I knew why you immediately assume that any comment I'd make about a conservative is "hate". barfo
So it's intelligent to pick the party that's gonna lose. Good to know. Next time someone gives me shit for losing, I'll just tell them it speaks well for my intelligence.
Sorry, but your post was transparent enough. Many congressmen and others in politics are in it for public service- I always felt Ted Kennedy and Ron Wyden were good examples. But liberals are without doubt the new face of hate in the country. Anything or anybody that gives the slightest appearance of crossing them are met with pure venom. Actually, I find it a bit scary.
