Rudy Martell Outlaw Sounds like a lot of 3pt shot attempts in the 2nd unit and not a lot for Oden. Miller is his only chance at getting the ball.
Jesus Christ, I still think this has to be a joke. Whatever, we know if we lose the first game or two, he'll change the starting lineup again. You must find a way to make your best players (all at different positions) play together, that's why you're the coach you fucking idiot.
Saying our bench unit is weak so we have to bring Oden/Miller off the bench is just ignorant, you can start Andre and Greg along with Roy and LA and have a rotation set where there's never fewer than 2 of those 4 on the floor at any given time. Flame me for saying this but I hope Pryz elbow's Blake in the face while going after a rebound in the last preseason game and their both to sore to go for the opener...
There's nothing good about having what is supposed to be, and is starting to look like, A FRANCHISE CENTER COMING OFF THE BENCH... Who else does this? Nobody? Okay, now let's try to figure out why... Regardless of how many minutes he plays, I totally disagree with Nate - It does matter who starts. Oden is just now getting confidence and he decides to crush it.
"Steve Blake is a better defender than Andre Miller" - Jay Allen haha. I mean.. Andre isn't All-NBA caliber, but that's pretty funny.
So what does Nate say to Miller and Greg today? Congratulations, you "won" a bench job with your play?
Is Steve Blake better than Andre Miller at throwing up a shot from 30 feet out when there is still 13 seconds left in a playoff game and missing? I guess he is, since you would never see Andre Miller have a brain fart like that in the first place.
BINGO!!!!! Wrong message to send to Oden. "Hey Oden, great job this offseason and preseason but ...."
Yeah, I agree about the Oden confidence thing this is ridiculous. What the hell is going on? Some kind of triumverate of Joel, Blake and Roy whining behind the scenes? KP needs to step in NOW and trade Joel and Blake and tell Roy to get it in gear.
Bingo. I've wanted to see this for a while now. The two unit system isn't all that effective in the NBA. I wish Nate would roll with who has the hot hand and substitute accordingly. The set substitutions drive me insane. Oden playing effectively on both ends whilst staying out of foul trouble? Przybilla in at 4:00 minutes in the the 1st (when Greg started). Nic locking down his man and making hustle plays? Outlaw in at 4:00.
There are a lot of NBA starters breathing a sigh of relief and a lot of NBA reserves pissed off right now.
I'm seriously starting to lean towards the fire Nate camp. You take out an En Fuego Rudy vs. Houston to put in a Glacially cold Outlaw? Blake over Miller, JJack over anyone? WTF NATE?!?!?!?
What I want to know is, are there a bunch of Spurs fans who go apeshit when it's announced that Manu isn't starting? Somehow I doubt it. But but - he's their second best player!!!! How can he not be starting!? That means FOUR PLAYERS WORSE THAN HIM are in the starting lineup!!!!!!
