Re: UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun (Oct. 24th) Notes on the Event: -- Lyoto Machida's first title defense is against former PRIDE Middleweight Grand Prix winner Mauricio Rua, who recently knocked out Mark Coleman and Chuck Liddell. The winner of this fight will likely defend against the winner of a delayed Rashad Evans/Quinton Jackson bout, expected to take place in mid-2010. -- Cain Velasquez was originally scheduled to fight Shane Carwin at this event. However, the UFC needed an opponent for Lesnar in November and decided to give Carwin a title shot. Instead, Velasquez faces former IFL Heavyweight Champion Ben Rothwell, who has been brought to the UFC as a result of the end of Affliction MMA. A win by Velasquez could lead him to a fight with fellow heavyweight contender Junior dos Santos. -- Rothwell's scheduled opponent Chase Gormley will fight Stephan Struve instead. -- Ryan Bader makes his return to the Octagon following a seven-month layoff after sustaining a knee injury in training. Bader tore his MCL and PCL and was expected to be sidelined three-to-six months. -- Sean Sherk was scheduled to face Gleison Tibau on this card but injured himself in training and failed to appear for a drug test for the event. Taking his place is UFC veteran Josh Neer. -- UFC 104 is the second event held at the Staples Center. The last time the UFC was in Los Angeles was for UFC 60: Hughes vs. Gracie. Spencer Fisher and Chael Sonnen will have fought at both events.

Re: UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun (Oct. 24th) I'm not excited for this card now that Cain/Carwin isn't happening.
Re: UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun (Oct. 24th) I feel bad for Yoshida, coming off a huge KO loss to Koscheck now he has to eat head kicks from Rumble.
Re: UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun (Oct. 24th) Rumble Johnson is just a fucking beast. Machida is also gonna win, and I think rather easily.

Re: UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun (Oct. 24th) Here is a great trend: SpikeTV will once again show a few of the preliminary bouts prior to the beginning of the PPV. The two for-sure fights will be Ryan Bader vs. Eric Schafer and Antoni Hardonk vs. Pat Barry. Last time (UFC 103) I think they managed to show four fights in the hour.
Re: UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun (Oct. 24th) Hey Cain, who would win in a fight between you and Fedor? Ok thx bye.
Re: UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun (Oct. 24th) Yes, he is a proud Mexican fighter! Therefore, he'll definitely beat Fedor!
Re: UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun (Oct. 24th) File this one under 'holy shit'. Welterweight Anthony Johnson, who fights at 171lbs., cuts down to 190lbs. in the month before the fight before shedding the extra 20lbs. in the weeks leading into the fight. He probably cuts 10lbs. or more the day before the weigh-ins. The 25-year old faces Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC 104. He expects to be about 190lbs. when he steps into the cage later this month.
Re: UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun (Oct. 24th) It seems unbelieveable that the guy walks around at 220, but hey, if he can do it, then why not.
Re: UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun (Oct. 24th) That means he could fight at MW and possibly LHW later in his career, right?
