3rd string guys showed they're hungry for work.

Andre was under 50% and Greg missed a lot of his shots.

What I take from that game is TrOut is not going to earn money like out of this world.

Good post, and I agree about Travis.

I don't know what type of team is going to be looking to acquire him next off-season.

Again with the racism? Now you have something against people with private TV feeds?

Amen. I really can't believe the dude is so stubborn that he cant see what he's doing here. Honestly, telling Oden "You aren't going to start because we think you will get more shot attempts" is like telling a blind kid "You need to wear those cool dark sunglasses because you will be able to see better". Doesn't make a bit of sense.

Fact is, Oden is the future of the franchise, along with Aldridge and Roy. The only way you can bring them all together is giving them playing time together. I will give Nate a pass right now, just because I still can't believe it. But I guarantee if he's staying on the bench more than the first 10 games, I will be making "FIRE NATE" shirts and pass them out for free in Pioneer Square.

I know. A team that is fully stacked defensively, with most their scoring made in the paint, but lacks perimeter shooting. I could say Charlotte is a good candidate. Possibly even Orlando, with the loss of Turk.

I hear what you are saying, and if this was just about Oden's feelings, I would agree.

The problem is, some of us see this as a bad move for the team's future.

none taken.. I appreciate others opinions. But the way I see it.. Greg has had 2 good games against the Kings.. and 1 good game against the "defense is optional" Suns. I would venture to guess if GO can show consistency (for more than 3 out of 5 games against inferior competition) then he will be starting as soon as Nate feels he can do it consistently.

GO was our most consistent player over the 1st 4 games, before the announcement.

Oddly enough I think the big problem with Travis right now is that he is tring to become more of a team player when he should just be jacking shots.

When all he does is score at least he is doing something halfway productive. I have seen him try and drive into the lane then kick out to the open man. I have seen him try to make passes off the dribble. Hell, he even tried to run the pick and roll.

It's not like watching him play makes me happy. But since there doesn't seem to be any way for Outlaw to play bad enough to get benched I would prefer he do what he is capable of instead of what he simply can't do.

Compared to whom, exactly. This isn't like a test where he can get an A, B, C or F. He has to outplay his competition. Which Oden has done.

Joel isn't exactly lighting the world on fire this off season. He is playing the exact same players as Oden.

Why didn't Joel get 7 offensive boards last night in his 16 minutes while Oden did in 17?

The reason is that Joel, though a fine center, doesn't have half the ability Oden does. THAT is why you start Oden.

Those are the reasons Oden will eventually start. Until he is consistent with it.. It wont happen.

Looks like others have beat me to the punch, but just the fact you're mentioning the word "consistency" in defending Nate's decision is pretty funny to me. Greg has outscored Joel in 5 of 5 games. He has outrebounded Joel in 4 of 5 games. How can you believe Joel is consistent and not Greg???

again, 2 of the games were against the kings, and 1 one was against the Suns defense. The one time he faced some actual Centers, he didnt fare so well. When Nate sees it for more than 3 out of 4 games.. then I'm sure he will start.

I guess I just put little stock in Pre-season games.. I have seen Joel be consistent in the Regular Season. Like I have told the others who have asked.. I'm sure when Oden strings a few games like this together in the Regular season.. then I am pretty sure he'll start.

LOL... so basically nothing Greg does in the preseason matters. The only way Nate will realize he's a better player than Joel is once he strings a few good games together in the regular season? That's what you're saying? Forgive me, but I think that logic is seriously flawed in this case.

fair enough.. we can agree to disagree. I can see starting either one I guess. I can see the argument for Oden, but I can also see starting Joel until Greg does more against teams other than just the Suns, and Kings.

Once again, why should Oden have to be consistently great when Joel can be consistently mediocre and win the starters job.

Why do people feel the need to tear down one player with subjective terms such as "mediocre" in order to elevate another player?

Roy has been "bad" this preseason. Should he not start as well?

Well he is outplaying his competition.

Rudy won't even show up for the games.
