More than 18,000 people were watching the two I saw (including the Denver game that spawned this thread).

    Re: Andre Miller's stat lines

Yet you're the person spending all day questioning posters showing concern over a "PG" who is 8-29 with 6 assists over his last two games. He only played 16 minutes in one of these games, and he shot the ball 11 times before turning an ankle.

This isn't a Blake vs. Miller thing. This is a "what is going on here" thing. I hope it changes.

    Re: Andre Miller's stat lines

I mentioned this in the game thread . . . I agree with this. Miller is not the kind of player that gets the ball and all he is looking to do is shoot. Just the opposite, he is looking to get the offense moving and find the open man.

He did end up with the ball a few times with the clock winding down (I counted 2 air balls by Miller in the first half). His jump shot is not pretty and he is slower than I had hoped, but he has good court sense and will help the team this year.

    Re: Andre Miller's stat lines

So, the incredible amount of shots taken by Miller this preseason is the fault of his teammates? Am I reading this correctly?

Seems to me he should be getting his scorers the ball in position to score.

That what it seemed like to me from the box scores . . . until I watched a game.

Let's wait to see if this continues?

    It's an eleven year pattern.

    Re: Andre Miller's stat lines

So, suddenly Roy and the gang won't shoot, and they defer to Andre Miller when the clock runs tight?

This is actually worse than I thought. Why the f**k is anybody defering to Andre Miller on a short clock? HE CAN'T SHOOT. It's not like Blake hitting a 3 late in the clock on a ball rotation.

I'd rather see Miller putting shots up early in the clock to let the best offensive rebounding team in the league grab some easy boards/buckets if he's going to shoot more than anybody else.

    Re: Andre Miller's stat lines

For some reason (pre-season?) Roy isn't being as assertive as last year.

From what I saw, when the clock is running down and the player with the ball doesn't have a shot, Miller is usually in position to recieve the ball. I think you will see that Miller has good court sense and a soild understanding of spacing on the court.

But I'm not here praising Miller as the savior or saying that he turned out be better than the other players the Blazers went after. In fact my thought during yesterday's game was how Hedo really could have helped this team and I see why the Blazers jumped all over trying to sign him.

Miller as a product of all this talk about this summer and cap flexibility is actually a bit disappointing to me . . . but he will help the team and brings a skill the Blazers didn't have . . . and that is my take on Miller from a game that was terrible. I can see why some posters on this board are as excited as they are about him on the team.

    Re: Andre Miller's stat lines

He's "adapting" to Miller. Roy needs to realize that he is the franchise player and that Miller is at best a 3 year solution, and at worst trade bait within six months.

I think it is more a Roy issue than a Miller issue . . . but I agree with a lot of this.

    Re: Andre Miller's stat lines

Roy seems like the type of guy who respects veterans. I hope that the veteran Miller pulls Roy aside and tells him that the team is going nowhere unless Roy asserts himself as the oncourt leader, and the Miller views Roy as the leader of this team.

Of course, since by the last account by Roy they've never even had an offcourt conversation, I don't envision this happening anytime soon.

A lot of the Miller haters will feel foolish come February. In my humble opinion, it is way way too early to freak out, or even question anything that has happened so far. But this board needs threads and I'll still read them, so whatever. Just my take on the situation.

The last time he mentioned it, over a month ago, which MUST mean it's still accurate, right? Right!!??Since he hasn't updated us on every off the court conversation since then, the LOGICAL thing to do is assume they have not once spoken off the court.

I'm not sure how commenting on Miller's actual stats thus far makes me a "hater". Does mean that I was a Miller "lover" in September when I had convinced myself that the team finally had the passer that they needed to not stall at times on offense?

I'm just posting facts and commenting on them. I hope I do look "foolish" in February to you, but I won't feel foolish.

Yes, I said 'last account'. Is there something inaccurate about my post? It is rooted in fact, and you seemed to be rooted in speculation. Has Miller commented about his role, Roy's role, or anybody else's role on the team other than complaining about not coming to Portland had he known he wouldn't be handed a starting spot?

You don't think you will look foolish for jumping to conclusions over a handful of preseason games in which a lot of our regular rotation players have been injured? :dunno:

What conclusions have I jumped to? Seriously? I'm commenting on what I'm hearing on The Game and what I'm seeing in the stats.

I hope it is an adjustment period, but if anybody can honestly say that they hoped Miller would be leading the team by shooting the ball 26 more times than anybody else this preseason while averaging 4 assists per game, I'd love to see that post. When Brandon Roy is leading in assists while playing far fewer minutes, something is wrong.

I hope Miller turns it around, and I believe he will. He'd better, or he will be a wasted signing.

26 more shots than anybody else in 7 games. I had to type it again just to believe it.
