What? You mean every Blazer isn't headed to the hall of fame? I thought that that's the way it worked. If they are a Blazer, they are headed to the hall of fame. As soon as they are traded or released then that no longer a possibility!
I'm pretty sure shooting when you can't jump at all and you have a huge boot on your foot is a little different than shooting a jump shot in the NBA. I do remember hearing that he wasn't even supposed to be shooting until like July or August.
Well the way I look at it is this: Until the game with Batum last night playing pretty well, none of the SF on the Blazers had been getting it done. It is very simple. There is getting it done, and not getting it done. There is no room for excuses. Lately Martell has been the guy that has the prettiest looking jump shot that never goes in during the game. So, either find a way to get it done, or look forward to not having many years left in the NBA.
P R E S E A S O N . But I'm not getting my hopes up on him anyway. I really like him, but don't expect great things.
The nice thing about using Outlaw in that very limited role is that on the nights he gets hot, you can always play him more. He might actually see the highest PER of his career this year, simply because the coach will quickly yank him if he isn't contributing.
Oops! I guess it hurts when someone turns the tables on you, eh, STOMP? You were the one who got his panties all in a knot because someone couldn't remember exactly how many years Webster and Outlaw had been in the league. Now you're upset because I pointed out that you mistakenly used the word meaning "a channel of water" instead of the word meaning "undeviating, or accurate." If you're going to throw stones, my friend, you better move out of that glass house.
right, here on the Blazer board we value getting spelling right every bit as much as keeping our basketball facts straight. Man my panties sure were in a knot... curious, how did you become so ridiculous? STOMP
can't wait to see what nothing issue you'll wet your pants over next when you're taking a break from your grammar police position. Despite the myriad of misspellings that regularly appear on this board, this is the 3rd time you've flashed the spelling badge on me. It doesn't get more pathetic then playing spelling police on the internets yet you've done this repeatedly towards only me. how about you just store that thing next to the tight spot you keep your head shoved up? STOMP
As the screwiest one here, I step forward to take full responsibility for the group looking screwy. Speaking of screwing around, include me in the 90% who regret that Pritchard gave Webster $4M per year. Webster was ready to play late last season, but was held back to this season because, what's the point of starting your season a month before it ends. He should not be given a pass for half of this season to get up to speed.
I think some rust is to be expected, but Martell was never all that big of a dead-eye shooter at the best of times and has battled consistency and confidence issues since the year he was drafted, so the fact that he's going through cold shooting nights after a year long layoff from competitive hoops doesn't surprise me in the least. As for going backward, I don't think I see that at all, I think he's the player he's always been, but I remember his reputation becoming pretty inflated by certain people around here during the length of his layoff; perhaps now expectations are going "backward" to meet up with the actual player -- a guy I see as a mediocre shooting specialist with so-so defensive abilities, good size for his position, a pretty stroke and backup small forward written all over him.
Webster's (somewhat diminished) role on this current team will be different than that which was expected/anticipated from him prior to him going down with injury.
Yea Martell is the Benjamin Button of the NBA...by the end of the year he will avg. -4 ppg...Come on, the guy just missed an entire NBA season. Start hating if he plays like Rudy did during the playoffs last year.
