Why don't we revisit that question if Nate is fired... because there's no point in speculating who should/could replace him at this juncture.

What could hamper a potential coaching change in the future is the relationship Roy and coach have.

that's not true. if you're going to fire the guy, there better be an improvement out there to hire or it's just a step backwards.

The improvement might be working for the organization.

Except I said at the end of the season. Do you already know who is going to be available to coach at the end of the season? If you do, I would love to get some lotto numbers from you.

I'd say there's more blind Nate haters, than blind Nate lovers. I don't think he's the greatest coach out there, in fact I think he's a bit stubborn, but this is a young team that plays mature and experienced and he's done as well as expected so far. Another 1st round and out in the playoffs and this is a valid topic.

If he is ever replaced, I could see it being due to philosophical differences between he and KP/Paul rather than it being due to poor results.

Call me crazy, but I'm thinking "one shitty season" would equal 82 games. Maybe that's just me. How many games do you define as a season?

Hello Meltdown. A part of you wants the Blazers to implode so you can say "I told you so" on the internet. That's not healthy, and that's not being a true fan.

    P.S.

You are being ridiculous. Who are the "Nate lovers"? Where are the threads dedicated to Nate McMillan?

Nate Bishop leads that NateHate brigade. Part of him wants the Blazers to implode just so he can say "I told you so" to the naysayers (errr, Blazer fans who want success and realize McMillan coached the team to 54 wins).

Really, I'm the weirdo, though. Give Nate another press credential!

I'm confused as to how that would actually happen. How would a bad season PROVE that Nate had done a bad job? There are other factors that contribute to losing. If you think a bad season will PROVE that Nate is a bad coach, then by that logic, a good season will prove that Nate is a GOOD coach. Your logic doesn't work.

Wow. Talk about an overreaction. You'd think I posted something to the effect of

"I'm not rooting for the team anymore. I want them to fail. I want them to lose. I will not be happy until they lose all 82 games."

I just think it's funny that some people exclusively point to our record over the last three years as THE reason why nate is a good coach.

    "Nate is a bad coach."

"No he isn't, look at this record over the last three years. If he was a bad coach, why would the team be improving?"

Tell me that's not how every single Nate coaching thread goes.

So I'm sorry, but yes, I would take some satisfaction, if we have a bad year, in the fact that some fans could not resort to our record as the prime reason for him being a good coach.

    Sue me.

I'm just a little bitter towards Nate right now because he's starting Blake. I'll get over it.

I don't think it's an over reaction. You said you want the team to fail for whatever reason. That is seriously weak and I for one don't consider you a fan of any team when you say and defend that crap.

Yeah, seems kind of pathetic to me as well that you allow disagreements on a message board to supercede your being a Blazers fan, and would rather win petty arguments with people you probably don't know over seeing our team succeed, even if it means people thinking that the primary reason is Nate.

It sounded to me that NateBishop wanted the team to struggle so, in his opinion, they could bring in a coach that would take them further than Nate can. That to me sounds like a fan that wants his favorite team to win it all. You might not agree with how he wants to get there, but both of you want the same thing.

There are just about as many people who don't think Nate is the right guy for this team to take the next step, as there are people who think he is the best coach for that.

I think it's ridiculous that, just because he doesn't share your thoughts on how to achieve success, that you write him off as a fan.

He wrote himself off as a fan. In sports winning is success and he doesn't want that. Doesn't matter to me the justification.
