Maybe you should quit writing 'bat shit' crazy stuff like, "Joel was a much more efficient center for us tonight." Joel had a great game, but he didn't shut down the Rox at crunch time like Greg did. Learn the game, then post.
Wow, I'm really glad you pulled out of it. Sometimes in order to turn things around we have to find our inner John Nash, and fire him. barfo
If you find it upsetting that people would say something that upsets you just to upset you, perhaps you should consider how your posts are affecting others in perhaps a similar way?
Dayum! A nice win to start the season and here are the 'fans', calling out the coach and players. Maybe at some point this season they will play an absolutely perfect game and all the whining will stop.
Perhaps when several people bring up the same point and you ignore it, it's not the rest of us who have a problem with understanding.
Barkley is still no doubting our team because we have no inside presence but yet he loves Dallas, who is just full of jump shooters.
Pretty amazing we had 26 turnovers and still held the Rockets to 87 points. Anytime your best player is 5/18 from the field, your second best player is in foul trouble the entire game, and your third best player is a total non-factor offensively but you still win, it's a good sign. I don't think all three of those things will happen every game.
I agree that it is unacceptable on this board for one poster to talk about another's illness; one does not give up their privacy just by virtue of posting here.
This reminds me of bullies ganging up on a kid at school who is a little bit different; I don't like it.
I think certain posters (and it is more than one, though one in particular is certainly the reason I'm making this post) have chosen to make emotional stands on certain players. You can engage them if you want, but it will only lead to frustration on both sides. As someone (who's name is not coming to me) once observed, you can't be reasoned out of a position that you weren't reasoned into. I think we should bear that in mind. Instead of getting progressively more heated, it's better to understand that sometimes the two sides aren't really arguing within the same framework (whether that's logic, emotion, wish-casting, etc) and let it go. Argue with someone who's willing to engage you in the same argumentative framework you're using. That's just a suggestion, of course. You are free to argue with whomever you want, in any way you want (barring personal attacks). This may just circumvent some of the anger and frustration.
Personally, I agree that bringing up a personal issue/problem isn't productive, but I don't think that this is a privacy issue. The reason that particular issue was known to the board was because KingSpeed chose to mention it before, publicly on the forum. So, I don't think his privacy is being invaded...but it's probably not the best thing to use it against him.
You are right; it's really deeper than privacy; it's when someone is courageous enough to reveal something personal, it's just not nice to later throw it back out there in a criticizing manner.
why is it that with every single game regardless of result there has to be a meltdown of some sort with this board?
I personally consider it to be akin to making fun of someone because they didn't go to college or because they are missing their left hand... pretty uncool and lacking in class. It's true that people with college degrees tend to have read and written more than people who do not, and it's true that people without left hands often type more slowly (and therefore might be more terse in their writing style)... but pointing that out strikes me as crass. Similarly, if KingSpeed has revealed emotional issues in the past, there's simply no reason to ascribe a weakness of logic or temperament to it now is weak sauce. Especially given how often all of us, at one time or another, get emotional about stuff. Ed O.
I just don't get why someone would bother making a comment about another persons disability. It's not funny, it's not needed, and it has nothing to do with anything.
I don't think that's needed. Hopefully, people will just chill out. We're all on edge over this loss and... ...what's that? Portland won? Well, that's great!
