According to Wheels today, Nate was/is very unhappy with the game 1 turnovers and has effectively given this team a 10-game trial period in which to reasonably get them under control. If not, he'll then clamp down on the reins and reduce/eliminate the fast-break, running game.
WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will have to go back and watch the game, but I don't remember more than a couple of TO's when they were running. I made a comment on one and you, by the way, mocked me. Which given this news makes me look brilliant. If this is true then Mr Sonic officially becomes Mr. Assclown
I think Nate had no need to be concerned. We ran OK, but that will get better. We'll reduce the turnovers as most were not a result of running. I have no concerns. We brought our C game and easily won.
Yeah, I admit, that was a bit over the top. I apologize for that remark. That said, I did see the team at least "try" and run more than a few times last night.
I don't think any of Greg's 7 turn overs were from the fast break. Most were from slapping the ball away around the basket.
As Barrett and Rice said last night, you have to be able to live with some turnovers when you are playing such a style. Maybe what Nate needs to do is work on that style in practice instead of so much isolation play. That's what running coaches like Rick Adelman, Mike D'antoni, Paul Westphal would do.
I guess Nate and I were watching different games. It looked to me as if the half-court offense was the part that was out-of-sync.
That's what I saw as well. I think it's just an excuse for him to not have to try to get easy baskets.......Although everyone seems to think he really does want to
Somehow I can just see Nate sitting in his office, reading the board and thinking of evil ways to get MM upset. That's quite funny, honestly.
The offense as a whole looked out of sync last night.. but the running looked pretty dang bad as well. And I see why we are a half court team.
The running actually looked really good when Andre was handling the ball, but when any one else was it was humorous and facepalm worthy. Travis trying to throw the ball of Andre's head on the break was a moment where I didn't know whether to laugh, be shocked, cry, or shake my head.
The Travis ones hurt my brain. And then someone throwing it to Andre and it almost went out of bounds. And Rudy falling at half court trying to push it. to me the Fast break looked ugly. But thats an IMO lol.
hey you dont need to convince me that the offense looked better when Andre was in there. But the running didnt look very good IMO.
I look at this whole thing as, well, it was just game 1. As mentioned above, many of the turnovers had nothing to do with fast- breaking or running. 10 games is plenty of time to see if something works, or not. If Nate is willing to use this amount of time in which to evaluate the style of play, then more power to him. It's a new season, a relatively new team with Andre on-board. Again, as mentioned above, the Blazers won the ball game. In my mind, it was never in doubt. Even when Houston had cut the lead to 6. One of the most surprising things to me, though, was our Centers' foul trouble. Especially considering Houston's undersized big men. Can you say ticky-tack?
Well like I said in the O-live forum. I was so "pro-Nate" for the last 5 years until the end of last season. Then I started questioning his coaching ability. I'm still curious if Nate has any post plays designed? Right now it seems more like "Hey toss the ball in the post and see what happens" instead of "God dammit you idiots let's post the damn ball!"
