At least this loss provided some really great signature material.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I'd be fine with a three guard rotation...Roy/Miller/Fernandez. No Blake or Bayless except in garbage time unless Bayless somehow proves himself in practice.

Blake isn't terrible, but I really can't see any of his minutes justified over Roy, Miller or Fernandez.

i just don't see miller's use at the end of games if roy is going to have the ball in his hands. teams will just help on roy off of miller because they don't respect his jump shot(and for good reason). miller isn't a good defender or jump shooter so what does he bring to the table in end game situations when he won't have the ball?

Interesting point, and I'm not sure I disagree with you.

Would you rather Miller be on the bench, or we put the ball in Millers hand and work Roy off the ball?

Tough game, playoff type atmosphere. The Blazers just aren't at a high level of play yet. I really questioned the substitution patterns in the 4th, and was not happy they went away from Rudy when he is hot. If there is one thing that drives me mad about Nate is that he will go away from a guy when he is hot, when most of the elite level coaches will make you show you can stop the hot hand before changing things up.

It happened in the first half as well. I remember making note of it in this thread.

Outlaw played great. He went like 0-4 on one possession. But we scored on that possession thanks to his hustle.

Question: Why did Andre Miller take 3 three point shots? Anyone?

miller on the bench with rudy and roy out there with one of blake, webster, or outlaw on the floor too(basically depending on who is hot that night or a better matchup defensively).

They brought Anthony back in after Rudy abused the rookie guarding him, which meant a much better defender was guarding Rudy. Rudy did get the ball a few more times, but wasn't nearly as open as he was before, so he'd pass it on.

And that's what happened...when Ty Lawson came out, Rudy cooled off...

One was end of first quarter, and the other two were end of shot clock, iirc. Consider it Sergio syndrome.

I have been saying that for a long time. The best way to give your team the best chance to win is to play the best players for the longest minutes, and keep the talented ones happy with their playing time. When Portland went big tonight, it actually worked pretty frackin well. But we rarely see it. I would be happy with Roy and Rudy getting most of the minutes, and the bulk of the shots for that matter.

One was at the end of the 1st quarter and another when the shot clock was running down.

I'd rather have the ball in Miller's hands and Roy usually taking the shot. Roy doesn't have to handle to shoot the ball and I'm not sure it's optimal to have him do both. Tonight, he ran into trouble trying to control the ball to the end before taking the shot and had to make a desperation dump-off, and that's happened before. I wouldn't mind having Miller set things up, penetrate and then kick to the best option...which is Roy most of the time, but a wide-open Rudy or Outlaw would be better than Roy being blanketed.

I don't think they were end of shot clock, but he was WIDE open and had to take them.

Educated observation. Karl was very slow to adjust, but finally he made a substitution to cool Rudy off and it worked.

Exactly. Miller is a liability out there and his man can leave him to double, or triple, Roy.

Our point guards suck. Patty Mills- get well soon.
