I realize I'll probably get some flack for this, but I discussed it with some people via PM and I'm curious what the board as a whole thinks.

I think now is the time to make a push for Chris Paul. The Hornets suck. He's unhappy. They aren't going to improve that team with the ownership they have, and they aren't going to win with the roster that they have.

Realistically, we aren't going to be able to get Paul for anything less than Brandon Roy. It's not going to happen.

Would you make a deal for Paul if it involved Roy?

I would. I think Paul is a once-in-a-generation point guard. He is a legit quadruple-double threat. He is a guy who can make everyone around him better. As much as I love Brandon, I think Paul would instantly make us one of the top-2 or 3 teams. I think he would make Oden an All-Star.

Right now things are a big confusing because Paul is BYC and Roy is poison pill with his contract kicking in next season. I'm not sure how to make it work under the CBA, but I think we would have to send Roy, Bayless, and maybe Joel.

We might need to make another trade involving Blake and Outlaw to bolster our shooting guard and power forward/center spot.

    Paul/Miller/Blake
    Rudy
    Webster/Outlaw
    Aldridge/Howard
    Oden

So the question is, would you do it?

    No chance for me.

Also, legit quadruple double threat? Come on now.

You don't think Paul is capable of putting up double digits in assists, steals, points and rebounds in a single game? It may never happen, but Paul is about the only player I can imagine currently in the NBA who could pull it off -- maybe only once in a career granted.

As to the question. Yeah I'd trade Roy for Paul, it's not quite a "no brainer" but it's pretty damn close.

Dwight Howard could do it, but with blocks instead of steals.

Insert LA and others instead of Roy, and you got a deal.

Love Roy, but with Rudy waiting in the wings to take the SG spot and a chance to add the best PG in the game...yup.

Good point. In any case that's two players, maybe throw Lebron in that category too with the blocks.

First, one week into the season no team is bolwing it up yet.

Which brings me to second. I want to see a full season of Roy/Aldridge/Oden before I trade Roy for Paul. I think that a dominant Oden will have a larger impact than Paul. On the flip side of that coin I do understand how Paul has the ability to replace the scoring that Roy provides while at the same time can get Oden involved offensively just as he did with Chandler. But Paul does not have the same scoring ability that Roy has. Paul can burn the guy guarding him with ease, but he does not have Roy's scoring ability.

You know I think I would. I can't help to think that once we do move Roy for Paul, Chris Paul turning into Damon Stoudamire. And Undersized point guard that gets ate up by bigger guards. But I quickly bring myself back to earth realizing just how good and fun Chris Paul is. As much as I like Brandon. He is boring. He bores the game down. This is NOT to say that he is not a very good player. He is. One day will be great. But so is Paul and of the concept of "team", he might be the better asset.

Paul may not be the scorer that Brandon is, but the gap between them is small enough that you can barely tell the difference in that particular department.

Beyond that you say a dominant Oden will have a larger impact than CP3 on this roster, but the trade proposal isn't Oden for Paul, Oden would immediately be the beneficiary of a point guard who will get him the damn ball on pick and rolls, alley-oops and would probably have a similar effect on LaMarcus.

There's no hate in me for Brandon (love him) but his ability to score and even his ability to create for others does not surpass CP3's overall effect on the game.

Actually the thing that turns it for me is how Paul carries himself in game. He is one intense mo-fo. That is what this team is missing. Intensity. There are so many players that are just happy go lucky guys, happy their freinds are on the team, happy with Nate, happy they aren't a 17 win team anymore. Happy happy happy. Frack that.

I'm in the "reluctantly, until we start hoisting banners" crowd. And not "division tiebreak loser" banners.

I voted yes, but I do not like the idea as Rudy at starting SG.. I just don't think he's that good. I suppose it wouldn't matter much though, cause the reason I don't like him is because I don't think he can get to the hoop, which Paul can do over and over again. Paul also knows how to play well with a jump shooting PF and he will dominate with Greg running those P&R's with him. I feel like I'm cheating on Roy, but I have to say I would do it.

RoyIsClutch07 using Brandon being boring as another reason he would do it kind of angers me. (EDIT: But not in an angry way)
