So since I've barely been able to see my god damned team this season.. I have to ask.. are Oden's 5 fouls a game.. are they all legit? The fouling seems to be even moreso than last year.
There have been a couple of questionable ones, but he's also taking a lot of fouls from guards. (I got your back, homie)
uh, he got a lot of fouls from Sergio and Blake last year, too. Seriously, there've been a couple of games called really tightly (Joel collecting fouls like it's cool as well), and less like tonight where Oden was getting called for everything while JOel had 2.
They're mostly legit. But at least half the blame has to go on PGs and wings who can't keep their men from getting into the lane.
Some were questionable, I think, but he still puts himself in the position to be called for it. Our perimeter defense is just awful and terrible right now.
ok thanks.. I have only had the chance to watch the 1st game in person and then the TNT game. I hope this stuff could get corrected in his careers.. cause our dominant #1 pick cant do much when on the bench.
and regarding our perimeter D.. I figured out how we convince Chicago to give us Hinrich.. giving them Outlaw and Blake and a Pick or 2... and tell them they will need the extra cap space to sign Flash in the off-season! Hinrich at PG and Batum at SF... Oden will only have 1 foul a game!
I think if that trade was available we would already have done it. If it was and KP didn't do it then...just...wow. I pray nothing like that or the rumored Harris or Conley trades were true. If they were and KP passed on them that would be a concern. Right now of course I'm far more worried about McScribbles.
One of the BENEFITS of having a great shotblocker on your team is that the perimeter guys can stay up close on their man and gamble a little bit more, knowing that if their man beats them, the shotblocker is there to send them back. But Oden fouls and turns the ball over more than he blocks shots. Sadly, he hurts us more than he helps us.
benefit of having a shotblocker yes.. but having to rely on him is piss poor. I really think that Blake and co are hurting us a lot more than Oden is.
His only attribute is his offensive rebounding. He has given us a few extra possessions this season but he has also turned the ball over 3.2 times per game and commits almost 5 fouls per game in limited minutes. He's scoring 2.5 ppg less this season and turning the ball over more than twice as much as last year. The microfracture knee surgery was two years ago....
you can point out all the negatives you want about oden so far this season, but he still doesn't hurt the team more than he helps.
Oden picks up at least 1 stupid fould every game. Then at least 2 fouls are because our perimeter defenders all suck.
Pretty much this. There were some ticky-tack fouls called, but most of them are because he doesn't go straight up, he tries to jam that ball back into the defenders fucking face. Either way, I like that he's physical out there and doesn't take shit, but McScribbles needs to play him till the end, and not bench him with 5 fouls. who fucking cares if he fouls out early in the fourth, put Joel in there.
If Joel is not in foul trouble then you LET ODEN PLAY till he is gone. Its that simple. What is the point of having one of the best back-ups in the league if you limit both players with stupid rotations and play scared. Rotations, that I might add, allow the players get ZERO flow in the game.
