Chris Paul frustrated He's the perfect weapon for D'Antoni's run and gun offense and he's a more realistic player to leave his current team than LeBron or Wade.
NYK don't have the pieces to land a Chris Paul compared to a team like Houston, who have expirings and young attractive talent.
Really.....point is that they aren't going to give Paul away. Houston can trade an expiring like T-Mac or Yao in offseason along with one of their young PG's while Knicks have Wilson Chandler and Gallinari the only attractive talent on their roster IMO.
Nets know how to decipher what is reality and what isn't....Knicks still they they're going to land LeBron
T-Mac is no longer attractive with his age and his injury history. Yao is almost 30, injury prone, isn’t playing this year, and might not return to his all-star form. Plus, it’s probably in the Rockets best interest financially to keep Yao. Knicks have 7 expiring contracts and young talent - Gallo, Chandler, Hill, Douglas, Lee, and Nate.
Lee & Nate are gone after this year. They will be unrestricted free agents. Jordan Hill is still an unknown commodity at this point.
You're assuming we won't re-sign them. If teams' lack of interest this past offseason was any indication, their market values might be lower than what they thought it was. They might be available at lower prices. Jordan Hill is raw at this stage, nonetheless he's no-risk, all-reward.
Honestly, I think Yao's still got atleast 2-3 all star seasons left in him. Unlike, he's got heart. He'll be back putting up 19 and 10 again.
I don't think you can conclude that so definitively. The fact that he's almost 30 and is having such a serious injury - potentially career ending - must be considered. Yao also has a history with foot injuries and, prior to last season, hasn't had a healthy season since 04-05. Saying that Yao has at least two all-star seasons left is premature.
The point of Yao & T-Mac is that they're expiring....cap relief while Rockets could throw in young talent on par or better than what the Knicks have.
How can they re-sign them and two big free agents? I think it's safe assumption neither will be back and it didn't sit well with either player (or their agents) that the Knicks didn't give them longer deals.
