I suppose a $25K fine will be forthcoming for SVG, but that will eventually be seen as a small price to pay for acquiring more leeway for his superstar center. Nate?

Is Nate supposed to ask them to change traveling rules, and make it so if you swipe the ball from a C, it is a foul, instead of a loose ball or turnover as well? Because that'll help Greg out more, I think.

Hard to argue that, but SOME of the calls Oden and Przy are getting called for are ridiculous.

Oh I agree. Sorrry, I shouldn't be a dick like that. It just annoys me that as big of a problem as the officiating is, he still struggles with a lot, and at times is his own worst enemy. I can't say that well, though, because it sounds like I am then super down on him, or have no faith in him or whatever, and that not the case.
I do believe Nate said something during the playoffs last year, did he not?

I have long waited for the day that Nate comes out in a press conference and rips the officials. He needs to let the NBA know that he is tired of the BS fouls, and he needs to say it multiple times until he draws enough attention to it that the NBA and National media chime in. I highly doubt PA would have much of a problem paying those fines.

Sorry, I just bumped my thread from yesterday about Howard before I saw this one. Anyway, MM I agree. Bitch long and loud until this aspect of the game officiating is changed. I especially liked this part that is spot on:

"He gets penalized for being so strong. We give guys an advantage in this league for being quick, but we penalize them for being strong like Dwight,'' Van Gundy said after Howard finished with 11 fouls in the last two games combined. "If you hit a perimeter guy on a drive the way they are allowed to hit Dwight all the time around the basket, it would be a flagrant foul.''

I want to see Oden and Nate be willing to get some T's and Pay some fines... KP also!

Yep. It won't change until they speak up, loud and clear.

Greg's biggest problem is him staying on the floor because of fouls and that is directly related to the referees being so quick to blow the whistle on him. His TO problems I do not think are as big of a deal as you lead on.

I went to the game opening night. Greg had 3 turnovers in the first quarter. All three illustrated what SVG said about Dwight. All 3 were fouls that were not called (IMO) but instead were scored as turnovers. If Kobe got whacked like Greg did on two of those and didn't get the call he'd be up the refs ass so hard he wouldn't get a call on him the rest of the night. But it's Greg's fault for not being able to hang onto the ball while he's being clobbered?

    I blame Nate.

If Nate ever went public complaining about the refs and fouls, I would hope it would be on behalf of Roy.

For Nate to bitch about Oden getting hack, at this stage in his career, would look silly, IMO. Oden is yet a proven scorer and to complain he is getting hacked before he has shown he has a consistent dominant offensive game . . . well I think it will come across wrong.

You can't put Oden on the same level as a Howard or Kobe. It would be like a coach coming out and trying to get protection for Okafor. Maybe on a particularly egregious game, but a general complaint by Nate against the officials about Oden's treatment . . . sounds like another excuse why he isn't doing as expected.

Shaq used to complain about the same thing. He was so big and strong and impossible to stop except to hack him. They hacked him really hard, he says, likely because they thought his size meant he didn't feel it as much.
