ha, just trying to steer the thread into another direction. I'm glad we're 4-3 and over .500, and I think we've seen the last time where we'll be under or at .500 the rest of the season.

Agreed. We also still have a great opportunity to take a lot of these early games and beat the hell out of our opponents. We have some real gimmies coming up if we can take advantage of them. Plus, the new look makes scouting us tougher!

Fine, I'm right there with you , I get it, not a problem. Everybody has an opinion ...

aaaaaaand ... you just lost me. I never called you a troll, I don't care about whatever thing you have going on with Nate et al. :dunno: my only suggestion is that it would be cool if people could sidebar their personal disagreements in private (regular basketball disagreements are fine by me and frankly I love arguing them). Cool?

A 3-2 roadie would be really nice right now. I'd ask for 4-1, but I don't want to be trollish.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
In the Blazers playing well. They should have won, but a 20+ point blowout is never the expected result. The Blazers legitimately played well, very well. It wasn't just playing a bad team.

Pfft. I'm looking at 4-1 and saying, "why can't we win against the Hornets?" I'm a bit of a Pollyanna, but whatever.

Actually I see the Hawks as the bigger challenge. The Hornets are a freaking mess right now -- which isn't to say it's a gimme; we always seem to play like shit against them.

Good point about the Hawks. But we nearly beat them with a pretty bad offensive performance last time. I think the "New Look" Blazers can really bust some heads. The Hawks are legit (i.e., not Minny), but they aren't *that* good to go 2-0 against us.

    Here is BNM's post.

    Here is mine.

Seems to me you wouldn't be worried about being called a troll unless you were doing trollish things, nay?

His post wasn't directed at anyone by name.

    Neither was mine.

Very defensive, Nate. A mod calling anybody a "troll" seems counter-productive, regardless. Edit the troll's messages.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Roy tonight reminded me of some of Pippen's nights as a Blazer. Some games, Pippen's shot wasn't falling...so he stopped shooting and just rebounded, assisted and played defense. Pippen pretty much could have taken as many shots as he wanted, as the ball generally went through him and he was the team's leader on the floor, just as Roy can take as many shots as he wants...but, like Pippen did in those situations, Roy chose to pull back and facilitate what was working.

As Martha Stewart (always a popular figure to quote on a sports forum) would say, "It's a Good Thing."

    I predicted a 20 point blow-out. I actually expected it. :)

It wasn't the expected result for non-genius predictors.

(Note: I didn't specifically call you a genius, I just said that non-genius predictors wouldn't have predicted it. It was a vague, non-targeted statement.)

Anyway, 20-point victories are the result of good teams playing well against bad teams, by and large. Had Portland won by 8 or so, it would be a bit more meh to me.

You may have expected it, but I would not recommend taking it for granted.

Our two home wins over Minnesota last season were by a total of 6 points.

We beat them exactly a year ago, November, 8, 2008 by a score of 97-93 and on March 7, 2009 by a final score of 95-93. I was at both of those games - on the edge of my seat hoping the Blazers would manage to eek out a home win against a vastly inferior opponent.

In the past, the Blazers have had a tendency to play down to the level of some of their crappier opponents. No such let down tonight. It was a welcome sight.
