This came to me from a friend: I JUST HAD A THOUGHT! I'm not really concerned about swine flu. Here's my concern: 3 years ago, Chinese calender year of the cow .....Mad Cow disease. 2 years ago, Chinese calender year of the bird .....Avian or bird flu. This year, Chinese calender year of the pig .... Swine flu. Next year is the year of the cock .........Anybody else worried?
You're right, it is a nice find. Not any of it is true however, but still, a nice find. For one, this year the Chinese zodiac symbol is not Pig, it's Ox. Last year was Rat/mouse (2008). The year before that was Pig (2007). The year before that, Dog (2006). There is no such thing as a "year of the bird" or "year of the cow". The next "year of the Rooster" isn't until 2017. The last one was 2005. Next year is the Year of the Tiger. I realize it's meant to be a joke. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_zodiac
Serves me right for not checking it out better. Also, thanks a heap for gunning down a humorous thread. Do you ever get invited to parties? [jez kiddin']
I just checked out that Wiki page. After all these years I thought I was in the year of the Rooster. Turns out I'm in the year of the Monkey. INTERESTING.
