It seems like some people I talk to are always so quick to say oden is a bust why? He is still young and still raw but he is producing decent numbers. I really think oden is going to continue to grow year after year and prove the na sayers wrong. what do you think? Mike
Mike, Your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except what they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. Yes, Mike, there is an Oden. He exists as certainly as blocks and rebounds and dunks exist, and you know that they abound and give to our life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! How dreary would be the world if there were no Oden! barfo
At one point, some said the same about Sam Bowie, as well. Alas, skepticism can sometimes provide a certain degree of psychological insurance. It can become the easier highway to take for some. Not me, though. Oden rocks!!!
It looks like some people have seen Oden's "upside". Here he is with 2007 Playboy Playmate of the year Sara Jean Underwood (who is from Oregon).
I stand by my predictions for Oden this season 14.5 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks. I think Next Year will be the awakening of the Giant, after a nice playoff push this season.
I hope the Oden doubters are sharpening their craving knives to slice up all that crow their going to be eating. His defense is already game changing. His offense is coming along nicely. Those spin moves against Chandler (a great defender himself) were unstoppable. The guy is going to be amazing....all that's left is to get over his foul-itis. Go Blazers
Odens a bust.... Does it matter what people say. he plays the games. Oden will be good if hes healthy.
Greg is steadily climbin the ladder for blocked shots. He's now #2 in the NBA at 2.45 per game. Josh Smith is #1 with 2.6 per. How long til Greg takes over the league lead? I say 3 more games at most. GAME CHANGER!! Edit: Wow I didn't even bother to look at FG%, where he's also #2 in the league behind Howard. Ladies and gents, we have a franchise center. And he's barely gettin started, look out NBA!
To contribute, a player has to be on the floor. Oden will never reach his potential until he stops taking himself out of the game.
Anyone who declared Oden a bust before this season was being enormously premature. His first season, he didn't play - so, sure, that was a bust. His second season was essentially his rookie year, and with the exception of Shaq and Duncan (both future Hall of Famers), no big men in the current age have been exceptional in their first season(s). The jury is still out on Oden. By the same token, I think it's also too early to say he has "arrived." If at the end of the season, his playing time is not being limited by foul trouble, and he's averaging in the neighborhood of 10 ppg, 10 rpg, and 3 blocks, I'll say he's on his way. But given the Blazers' rotten history with big men and injuries, and considering Oden's much-ballyhoo'ed selection as the #1 pick in the draft, it's going to take more than one solid season to silence the doubters. I love what I see this season - just want a few more years of it.
Everything hinges on Oden. He will learn the game and continue to improve. Barring injury there's no doubt in my mind he will live up to the draft hype.
yeah he swatted down 3 quickly. If he did not pick up them there cheap fouls he maybe would have finished with 10
