6', starting PG at a high school of 2200 students and a senior class of 630 students. We lost in the final four at state, then mailed it in and lost a morning loser-out game. Played baseball in JC, then raced as a competitive skier at Montana State before realizing I wasn't going pro in anything.
A little over 6'. I played football in HS and college, baseball in HS and basketball in the YBA and at the local elementary school. I love the sport, but in terms of basketball, I could best be described as a shorter, significantly less talented Joe Kleine.
I was very small growing up & played soccer year round most years. I'd play some 1 on 1 hoops vs various buddies but soccer was my main game... I usually played forward. A late growth spurt at 18 put me up to my current 5'10... I've played umpteen thousands of pick up and various league games since. When I started playing hoops regularly, I couldn't believe how easy it was to get a good look at the hoop. My J off the dribble became a tough thing to cover. I'm now 42 and still play a couple times a week in the Bay Area... believe me I can still score and get after it. I'll be back in PDX for Christmas if someone wants to turn me on to a run STOMP
That could happen. What type of run are you looking for? I play with some former OSU players at times, and I play with "Y-leaguers" at other times. Do you want a run with some former OSU players, including a few who played overseas professionally? I'm 36, and some of them are older than I am. Of course, others are local kids who are starting to blow by me, so I'm not sure how long it will be before I "retire" or before I "blow my Achilles". The "Y-League" games are with 20-30 year olds. I like the "Y-League" crowd these days.
6 foot 1, fat. Didn't play hoops until highschool, and that was to pass the time at lunch. Never been coached, learned to play by experience. Decent in 5 on 5 full court. Been playing for 10 years now and can sort of hold my own playing in basketball class at PSU. I fucking love basketball.
I had a couple of car accidents that compromised my back around 2000, so I make no claims of greatness... I try to glide/not push it to 11. I do bike a lot and am in good shape to counter this flaw and seem to have it together. Back in the college day I went up against many Duck players including Terrell Brandon. Unless my back derails me (which can happen) I'm capable of not embarrassing myself in any game you've got. Some nights I shoot the lights out. STOMP
Sweet. The older I get, that's my game as well. PM me when it gets closer to your arrival. At the very least, I could try to set up a game with some older Beaver players who live in the area. The young kids talk a lot of junk; I remember when I did that, but damn, I'm just to old to back it up now.
I just like to play. I'm over playing with guys who deny the ball was off of them. I'd rather sacrifice a little talent level for less bitching stoppages. I get a better workout that way. I've always been into anti-trash talking. Wishing guys "good luck" at the beginning of games and expressing my hopes that neither of us turn an ankle. Telling them the last shot I made was "lucky." Whenever someone talks trash to me, I find my focus goes way up... why would I want that from my opponent? STOMP
6', Strong, can play inside but I like to start on the perimeter because if people back off I shoot the three, if they don't I drive. I don't usually get around them, but I can finish even when they are right next to me. I love playing defense on any position. I'm currently a senior in HS, I made the summer league team freshman year, didn't try out for regular season, didn't try out for either sophomore year, tried out for summer league team junior year, made it, didn't try out regular season and didn't do either this year. There is a rec league for high school players now and the tryouts for that are Sunday! On the summer league team I was at the end of the bench, mostly because they played me at post and at 6' I'm short for a post.
I think what this calls for is an S2 hoop game if there are enough people here who can play, and where we can all bitch and moan on the court just like on this board. I think BEdge had a hoop get-together one time.
5'10" PG/SG. Just played JV in highschool... was too skinny then. I hit 50 Fts in a row before a practice once. Played on army IM team where I kit a game tieing shot at the buzzer from 3/4 court. I still shoot everytime I go to the gym for 15 or so minutes and play in a 3 on 3 league at work in the summer. Thinking about joining a portlandbasketball.com league for old farts.
6'1" 175 lbs in HS (6'2" now) and I started at SG but often played Center. We were a small team but I more than held my own playing the five. First year starting (soph.) I averaged 12 pts and 10 rebs. (9.8 rpg). My nickname was 'Spiderman' because of my long arms. We were a very slow paced team. We ran the Duke offense primarily. We would have been more effective if we pushed the ball. Sound familiar? Played HS baseball playing 3rd base and pitcher. Had a good arm. Once threw a guy out at home plate from deep right field. High slugging % with 4 HR's my senior year.
5'10" Played PG from elementary to HS. Played with The 8th Wonder in HS. We have a strong basketball conference in eastern N.C. Michael Jordan, Jerry Stackhouse, and a bunch of other famous basketball players grew up here.
6' barkley clone. could dunk a vollyball in highschool. killer crossover. rebounding specialist. high school pot head. grown up family man/workaholic.
5-10 PG. HS varsity team for 3 years, started for 2 years . . . went deep in the playoffs our last year. But my true glory days was college intermural 5-10 and under league . At first I thought I would go in a dominate as a PG, but all of sudden everyone on the court was as fast as me. I went from PG to a slashing/posting player leading the team in scoring. Even got wrote up in the school paper a few times (hidden on page four, half a page talking about intermural sports) Oh the glory days . . .
