This is exactly the sort of reaction he is talking about. All people seem to do here anymore is mock others, talk about how great or smart they themselves are, and avoid real discussions. I have had several other posters tell me the same thing in private - this board has gone downhill.

This thread proves people will argue about anything!

See ya Chris. Nice knowing you.

Interesting that instead of saying that they can empathize with him, people mock him.

Seems to be proving his point for him.

He's gone, right? What does he care?

And doesn't anyone who calls everyone else "blowhards" deserve to be mocked a little bit?

I think everyone would rather have him stick around and contribute in a positive way . I don't think that the "Comcast SUXXS!" threads Chris starts helps change the tone of the board to a more positive one, but I hope he reconsiders and comes back and has some fun again. :)

I know, personally, that I left the community for almost a year in ... hmm... late 2006/into 2007, maybe? I was tired of arguing about the same things with the same people and I felt like the joy of the Blazers was being sucked out of me by the community. I didn't make a big post about how I was done, I don't think, and I certainly didn't call other people names when I stopped. I just did, and eventually I came back. It's possible that others have done the same and of those people some will never come back.

    It's sad, but it's life.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I don't think he should be mocked, but maybe people don't empathize with him. Saying "See ya, blowhards" doesn't really make him a sympathetic figure. Do you generally empathize with people who say "I hate how combative you are, so fuck you, you fucking JERK!!!!" ;)

It seemed to prove that this forum is combative and chris was one of the (many) people making it so. That's fine, though. And if he wants a break, that's fine, too.

Hmmm. I pretty much agree. I haven't regularly read the main forum threads for about a year and a half. I read the titles to get a general feel of how people feel and then go back to telling people on the internet they're wrong over in the OT section.

I haven't read this thread, so I hope I'm not repeating what someone wrote, but--Chris in PDX was on ESPN when I joined in 2002. His posts were among the smartest. He joined the advisory board before the 25-point pledge and all that. We gave him a couple of questions to ask at meetings and he tried to. It's a big loss.

I really am a sad, old fart. When you mentioned a "Twilight Tour", I was thinking you were doing something like a night-time tour of the Shanghai Tunnels! My wife had to explain to me that those silly movies are really *that* big a deal!

    Pedophile vampires that *sparkle*......ooooh kaaay.

You know there's a generation gap when guys like you and I remember the days when they delivered ice to our fridges and we all sat around listening to the NBA on the radio, and nobody else remembers those things.
