He made very lil to no effort to see to it that it work. And McMillan is dumbfounded on how you could make it work. Comes with the territory of being Nate I guess.

But for the convenience, comfort and simplification for all that's involved. Maybe Martell to the lineup and Miller to the bench is the right move.

Also, why should he change his game to accomodate an aging Andre Miller, who has shown zero ability to adjust his own game.

No one on the team should have to adjust their game for Miller. If the team is better with Blake in the lineup and Miller on the bench after 14 games of playing and experiencing. Then perhaps That's where things should stay. I still think Roy made lil to no effort to see to it that Miller in the lineup was a success. And McMillans simplistic way of thinking did nothing to try to make it work from a strategic standpoint.

That may be true, but the fact that Roy did give up the ball to Miller tells me he did put in the effort. After 10% of the season with him doing that, the team was regressing offensively. Does that mean that Miller is done as a starter? Probably not. Does that mean that Miller needs to get the message that he needs to adjust his game to be effective in Portland? Probably.

Bayless and Webster can run. You just don't know it yet. And of course Nate won't approve of it, Roy is against implementing a faster offense. I thought that was already acknowledged.

Blake might be OK as a SG in a fast pace. As a PG - from his time with the Bucks and the Nuggets - it seems like his TOV% goes way up. I am going to guess that the reason we see more TOV% from him this year, as well, is because of the exact same reason, he thinks he needs to run more to "defend" his starting position.

Dude, in all seriousness, what are you talking about?

Roy may not have the knack for *leading* the break...but he most certainly can run the floor as one of the flankers.

Joel *can't* run - Roy doesn't *like* to run....huge difference!

Because easy baskets in transition are a better option than 1-on-3 ISOs.

THe comparative numbers compared to last season don't show this to be the case. Unless you have something other than your opinion to back up your POV?

    Hello darkness, my old friend
But in my scenario, Blake wouldn't be running the point in the up-tempo game. Miller would, since he's very good at it. Blake's role is (usually) to spread the floor...fast breaks can always use someone able to leak out to the three-point line and be ready to nail a wide-open three in transition.

I don't think Blake would be better or worse if the tempo increased, so long as Miller were the transition trigger man. In the half-court, Roy could do more of the creation.

Problem with Roy is he can't score without the ball.

I just got done watching a stretch of the Heat/Hornets game and Wade scored 6-8 straight pts without handling the ball. He caught alley-oops, ran through screens, cut backdoor, etc. A complete player, and he does this every game.

So....you want me to provide scientific research that a 2-on-1 or 3-on-1 transition is a higher percentage shot than a 1-on-3 ISO? Really?

Kobe, Lebron, Wade, and even Melo, have learned to score without the ball. AI never learned that. Which category do you want Roy to be in?

What the hell is up with you? You've always been combative, but lately you are just frickin' unreasonable.

I'm not sure how much of a newsflash it is, but the team didn't acquire Dre yesterday.

He's scoring roughly 19 ppg and averaging 5 apg without the ball.

Did you read the stats in this thread?

I'm sorry, all it takes is 15 games to change your game. Maybe we should tell that to Bayless too.

Roy + change his game for Andre Miller = Titles in Portland.

Thought I'd never say it but if POR could deal Roy for Chris Paul, I would do it in a second.....I'm not a fan of Roy's attitude this year at all....

One guy makes the other players around him better (Paul), the other (Roy) seems to be more focused on what makes himself better\more comfortable.....

The Hornets are playing better without Paul this year, beating both Phoenix AND Atlanta, and almost stealing one on the road against Miami. :devilwink:
