The taunting was uncalled for and he (rightly) got a technical for it, but the knee to Bosh's "man parts" was unintentional. When you jump off one foot, pulling the other knee up is a natural motion. It happens on every lay-up. Bosh's "man parts" just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. On the bright side, at least now we have evidence that Bosh actually has "man parts". BNM
It was still unnecessary, unsportsmanlike and he got called for it. I actually think it would have made a bigger statement if he would have just turned and headed up the court after the dunk like it was no big deal. BNM
did u see what erupted afterwards? here's the link: http://raptorsplayer.com/paul-pierce-dunk-on-bosh-triano-gets-pissed i thought one of the raptors should have punked pierce right back but honestly this how the league is going- its dominated by pansies who are afraid of fines, suspensions; maintaining good relations with other players and their next contract. the most disheartening thing for me is that bosh was trying to calm down his own coach afterwards who didnt even get nailed in the ballz and get taunted for it.
Yeah, I saw it - and I noticed how the coaches were the only ones to leave the bench. The automatic fine and suspension for players leaving the bench area keeps these things from escalating, but still you'd like to see someone come to a teammate's defense when something like this happens. You need a tough guy on your bench, that is willing to get in people's faces and take a one game suspension once in a while for the good of the team. The Raps were viewed as soft before this happened. This dunk, and their lack of response only reinforces that perception. BNM
i don't get why the Raptors are supposed to retaliate just because one of their players got dunked on? I was watching Triano like "what the fuck is wrong with this guy?"
You don't retaliate when one of your players gets dunked on. You retaliate when one of your opponents taunts an injured teammate. BNM
i dont think pierce is a dirty player and i happen to think ray allen is one of the most respected athletes in all of sports. although, the celts entire game is based on intimidation and with the continuum of events (i.e. KG's infamous finger waving in caledron face, KG getting physical with bosh off the ball and the refs not calling it, sheed calling hedo a flopper in the game and after the game plus pierce dunking feet first and yelling some crap in bosh's direction when he's gasping for air) - i think a reaction would be appropriate. im not advocating violence but the next time pierce, kg or allen ever decide to go to the rim- i would give a hard foul. also, i think little adjustments can be made, for instance- kg loves crowding bosh and taking away any space to put the ball on the floor so if i was bosh i would just swing my arms because he's entitled to that space and if KG's nose is in the way, i guess he goes rip hamilton for the rest of the year.
No it's not. It's clearly visible on the tape (to anyone not blind to reality). He dunks on Bosh, knees him in the nuts, pumps his fist and struts around like he's hot shit. If it only existed in my mind, the refs wouldn't have given him a T or it. I'm not a Raptors fan. I have no horse in this race, but I know a taunt when I see one - and so do the refs, Jay Triano, Chris Bosh and everyone else not blinded by Celtics green. BNM
Well, the raps have Reggie Evans and I'd like to think that if he was in uniform and on the floor he would have given Paul Pierce a piece of his mind but instead they had Rasho, Hedo, and Calderon (who does talk back sometimes) and those guys didn't say shit.
haha, hearing people talk like this makes me embarrassed to be a basketball fan. If that is considered a taunt, then basketball has surpassed gymnastics as the biggest pussy sport in the world. he dunked, paused for less than a second, then ran down the court and celebrated the great play he made with his teammates.
Bullshit. You're not a basketball fan. Your a color blind Celtics fan. Take off the green colored glasses and watch the replay again. Pierce clearly taunted Bosh and the Raptors - including the Raptors bench, while Bosh was laying on the ground. The refs called him on it and gave him the well deserved T. Notice how neither Pierce, nor any of his teammates objected to the T. He knew he deserved it and didn't even object when he was slapped with the T. You seem to be the only one blind to the obvious. BNM
the play reminds me of the dwayne wade dunk over anderson varejo (sp.) where he stepped over him after the dunk, although, bosh was clearly hurt after this play and bosh is a star but in both occasions- their teammates never defend them. im not blaming pierce for anything, i respect him as a player and i totally understand why he was excited after the play but i think a forceful reaction was a necessary response. personally, i want bosh to break KG's nose in the way i described earlier in this thread/
I just love when people bust out the "well, you're a (insert team) fan, so your opinion doesn't count!". So weak. I have watched the replay 15 times and I still don't see anything bad. I've seen Pierce dunk on guys before and he always has that same reaction, the pause. Never got a tech, though. Maybe he got it because Bosh was the first guy he dunked on that stopped to cry on the floor like a bitch. I also like your logic of "the refs agree with me so I must be right!!". Yeah ok, nice try with that one. That's almost more evidence that you're wrong. Your other statement is also really dumb, because Doc got a tech arguing the call.
bosh hasnt taunted anyone since the fifth grade, thats the year he got his ass kicked for taunting jamaal mathers and he hasnt taunted anyone ever since.
