So are the playoffs looking iffy or is it just me?

Yesterday everyone thought I was nuts and overacting. Today seems like nobodys sure we are even gonna make the post season. Clearly theres a lot wrong. Bill Simmons must be smiling somewhere.

Well why do you only seem prominent on this board when something bad happens? Is this the best way for you to vent?

    *Just trying to understand you*

You said the same thing about last season and said we weren't making the playoffs, etc...

At 12-7, we will be fine. Our team is nowhere near mid-season form. We have kinks to work out, but I think so far we've seen some positive signs then when we are clicking we are as good as pretty much anyone in the league. Do you agree with that?

Well, is MEM in "mid-season" form right now? GSW? Or are you saying that you think that, even though our early-season form isn't good enough to not get blown out in back-to-back games, our "mid-season" form will be better than the other teams'?

I think it is different for every team.

    1. I think Memphis was just a bad game. We beat them this year already. All good teams lose games they weren't supposed to.
    2. Golden State just owns us all the time. *shrug*

The Blazers have plenty of kinks to work out. Once they get straightened out, they will be ok. Hell, we are 12-7 and nowhere near as good as we will be in a couple months.

I don't agree. Actually, I don't even know what "clicking" means for this team. Are they an inside/out team that utilizes Oden? When Rudy is hitting fade-away 3's from 30 ft to beat the shot clock - is that clicking? Are they a defensive minded team that crashes the boards? I don't see an identity. They've had some impressive blowout wins, but "as good as pretty much anyone in the league"?

We need to be patient, I get that. December will go a long ways in telling us what this team has. This is the toughest month I've seen on the schedule in 2 years. It could very easily be a 4-11 month. But we'll see. Maybe they will figure some things out and start executing.

It's a bit early to pull the parachute on this season, but one of the engines on the left wing just caught fire and the pilot appears to have misplaced his navigational charts.

We'll probably know more about this team at the end of December, but if this current trend (not the record, the way they are playing) holds they'll probably be lucky to limp in with 40-45 wins.

"Iffy" seems to imply, to me, doubtful.

I don't think that the Blazers were EVER a "lock" to make the playoffs. Things could always go wrong and bump us out. Right now there is a lesser chance of us making it than I had anticipated, but I still think it's overwhelmingly likely that we get in.

wow ed-o a week ago you said that the blazers could make the playoffs without roy or something to that effect. your mindset on this team seems to have changed.

i cant say i blame you... i dont think this team gets in unless a trade or coaching change happens. its really depressing. i really thought we were gonna be a solid team at worst. now i just hope we get in. oh and its gonna take at least 48 wins to get in.

Portland currently has the 5th seed and they're 1 game out of the 4th seed. I don't see the teams below them having any more of a chance at the 5th or 4th seeds.

The team COULD make the playoffs without Roy. I have no question. From the beginning of the year, I'd say the chances would be about 60% of doing so. The odds of doing it WITH Roy (from the beginning of the season) was about 90% in my mind.

Right now? I'd put it at about 75%.

Not much has changed in the last couple of weeks other than that we have a couple of losses that I had thought would be wins. The team is not significantly worse than I had thought, and I'm certainly not overly worried.

The 8th seed will be about a 42-45 win team so yes, the Blazers easily make the playoffs. OKC is much improved but they're about a .500 team, and Houston is really only a .500 team also. There's 9 teams playing for 8 spots, maybe 10 if NO bounces back.

Blazers aren't at their best right now but I don't see the team imploding or anything. Watch them come out and beat Miami on Tuesday and follow it up with a win vs Houston on Saturday. The Blazers will be getting a lot of rest over the next week and will come out prepared.
