I would trade Bosh for Bynum, and that would solve all the problems

What true C besides Zeke in CLE has the 17 foot jumper like Gasol has? Of course he has a low post game, every good PF does. So is Duncan a C too in your mind?

Well yeah...considering the circumstances. Bynum was a shell of himself coming back from injury. Pau can play the C, Im not doubting that at all. When Bynum was coming back everybody including PJ and Stu Lantz was saying "This will let Pau go back to his "natural position"

Pau has continually been among the league leaders in the paint throughout his tenure here in LA. There is no sample size issue.

Bosh has a better PER differential, he has carried his team a lot more than Bynum.

I have never cared if this particular trade is realistic, I am doing this for fun.

How do you know what his natural position is, when he is most comfortable with his back to the basket?

Another way of saying that is, with Bynum and Gasol, you get two players that attempt 74% and 59% of their shots in the paint. With Gasol and Bosh, that goes down to 59% and 47%.

Do the Lakers REALLY want to become a worse defending, jumpshooting team? Right now, they have a great balance of interior and perimeter defense and low post and perimeter scoring. Why would they want to give that up? They lose their best interior defender and add another jump shooter. Makes no sense - EVEN IF IT WAS POSSIBLE*.

Oden does not have Pau's post moves, nor the volume of shots to make that relevant. Yes, Howard is a dunking beast, I didn't say anything about Pau being the undisputed champion at the center position.

Isn't there an issue with sample size, why are you then referring to Bynum?

The Lakers need someone who can stay on the court first of all.

Bynum does not have the same win shares or offensive output that Bosh does. He doesn't play as many minutes, he's not a first option. He plays with Kobe, who made Pau look even better in the Post.

Honestly, it is amazing how some people manage to use the most horrible stats to argue something.

Watching him, listening to what he has to say, seeing how he defends other big men, what Phil Jackson has said, what other analysts have said.

Maybe we just have an age difference and different time we started watching NBA ball...A true C like in the 80's and 90"s rarely exists. Shaq, Oden, Bynum, Dwight are the only good ones with a real C body.

My point is we just saw Pau at the 5 for an entire playoff run. The Lakers squad was most productive with Odom at the 4 and Pau at the 5 even in the regular season.

Odom is not nearly as good a 4 as Bosh, they would play even better together most likely.

No he hasn't. 59% (his only full season in LA) compared to 90% for Howard isn't even close. There are lots of other center sand some power forwards who do more scoring in the paint than Pau.

I'm not saying he can't play center. He can. He's very versatile. However, pairing him with Bynum gives the Lakers more inside scoring and a LOT better interior defense than pairing him with Bosh.

Wow....so are you just gonna ignore that the Raps have to rely WAAAAAY more on Bosh than the Lakers do on Bynum. Win shares....really

So Bynum not being a first option is a knock on him regardless that he happens to have to all-world players on his team...your reasoning is so flawed

Actually Kobe would slide back in the post if Bynum was gone. Like he did earlier this season with Gasol out.

Yeah using defense as the only barometer was a terrible idea. Bosh is a better overall player.

Pau Gasol shot 60% of his shots inside, and played the 5 against the best last year. It is amazing how you think someone as clumsy as Pau, who loves the post, would play "better" at the 4. Based on what?

What has Bynum accomplished in his very short and injured career that Bosh hasn't?

Why did you quote me and talk about Pau?

lol, not only is your arguement not making sense, but now you are arguing with the wrong people.

and even though it shouldn't have been directed to me, Pau would play at 5 and Bosh would play at the 4.

Bosh wouldn't be the first option in LA either. Of course Bosh plays more minutes and has more win shares than Bynum. He is, by far, Toronto's best player. On the Lakers, he'd be competing with Kobe and Pau for shots. His total win shares are better than Bynum's, but barely. Bosh has 2.5 and Bynum is at 2.3. All of Bosh's win shares are offensive. Bynum, as the third option (at best) has fewer OWS, but he has 1.1 DWS compared to 0.0 for Bosh.

As I said before. Bynum gives the Lakers a much better inside/outside presence on both offense and defense than Bosh would. With Bosh, you add a jump shooter who isn't an inside defensive presence.

Your post is the confusing one actually, everyone here is talking about stats. Perhaps you should clarify which stats upset you?

I assume since you think Pau is a 4, you would target me with that comment. If that is the case you are off.

Bosh is a real 4, whereas the Lakers use two centers on offense.

Bynum competes with post touches with Pau, that is obviously why Gasol preferred to play next to Odom last season.

He's won an NBA title. I'll take that over Bosh's all-star appearances.

Besides, this isn't about what have you done in the past, it's about what will you do in the future. Bynum came into the leage at a VERY young age (youngest ever, I believe, he was only 17 when drafted). He's just now starting to dominate. He's still only 22 and many years awy from reaching his prime. He has played GREAT this season - at both ends of the court. Bosh has played great on offense - not so much on defense.
