Random thoughts from watching the game. 1. Lebron is a turd. 2. I like Noah. 3. Aaron Gray is a fat waste of a roster spot. 4. I know they were gonna lose, but VDN pulled the plug pretty quickly by not playing any of the better players in the 4th. 5. Luol Deng is very mediocre.
Also, despite liking Noah, I can't give him too much credit for big talk on Lebron. It is certainly tougher than when he mouthed off to the nearly elderly Ron Adams, but it's still not going to win any points with me. And like I said, I like the guy.
The roster's already thin, why bother to risk injury in a blowout? I actually like Vinnie, but I can't help but see him as a terrible fit. It sure looks like he's been told how the team is supposed to play, instead of him setting up a system in his vision.
Wow, are Reinsdorf/Pax also the guys causing the financial meltdown and global climate change? Glad VDN didn't put the starters back in. Toronto played into overtime and tonight's game is a much more winnable game. Playing against the best player in the conference makes a lot of guys look mediocre. Deng has been anything but mediocre this year.
Deng is 32nd in scoring, 24th in rebounding, 100th+ in assists, about 100th in FG%, about 50th in steals. Mediocre is a relative thing. Compared to other Bulls forwards? He's great. Compared to other SFs, he's never been top 15 (better than half the starters in the league). All anyone needs to do is make a list of SFs better: Ariza, Iggy, Gay, Durant, LeBron, Granger, Gerald Wallace, Melo, Al Harrington, Pierce, Butler, Grant Hill, Hedo, Battier, Artest (stopped counting at 15). Reinsdorf/Pax are the guys causing the Bulls to put a lame product on the floor.
After a year and a half, I'm still not sure what to make of Vinnie. In general, I think the team has played up to their talent level as long as he's been here, but I have a hard time thinking of one notably good quality about him too.
Good in theory. In practice, Vinnie's going to rest the starters again since we're down 30. Tuesday's game against the Nets is a much more winnable game.
