I didn't call Oden Sam Bowie. I just said "Sam Bowie" cuz it comes to mind. Should I not post what I think?
Example of my theory that a lot of fans care more about Oden and his stats than they do about the Blazers and their win-loss record.
Working for us now. Roy & Co don't have time to cry. There's a game to win. Look at the Rockets. They lost Yao and then took the Lakers to 7, something no other team did all playoffs. You can't stop and feel sorry for yourselves. Go Blazers!!
Damn... wasn't watching the game but I checked the boxscore and when I saw Oden was out with only 4 minutes and 1 foul I came here with just a bit of angst... but man I really didn't expect this.
If he ends up being out for the season it will change my outlook on sports. There's no way I'll be able to get so excited again without fearing for the worst. This really fucking sucks.
An alternate theory would be that a lot of people understand what kind of impact an injury to Oden will have on the Blazers' win-loss record and potential playoff success...
Yes, that would be what is happening here. It's like someone taking a sledgehammer to your gut and just knocking everything out of you. People's reactions are very much about Greg AND the team because Greg is very, very, very vital to the team overall.
Because he's not nearly as important to this franchise as Oden is, both in the present, and in the future?
That scout said we play better without Greg. Roy must be happy. With Greg out and Miller on the way out, Roy can now take all the shots.
1. Because they didn't know what was wrong with Travis when he first went out. 2. Travis is not as important to the team. 3. Travis's is a foot injury, and his first major injury. 4. Travis does not hold within his hands the keys to leading this team to the finals.
