I know it got discussed a little last week but

Does it make some sense with Rudy out now too? He could at least provide some great shooting, he's basically what we want Webster to be, is a decent defender, ends the PG controversy, sends Blake to his hometown, and we get to develop Bayless and/or Mills.

Plus his contract isn't as bad as it looks and we can let him go after this season (just have to pay 2 mill). He might be the cheapest alternative to adding some depth w/o years.

    Miller/Bayless
    Roy/Webster
    Jones/Webster
    Aldridge/Howard/Cunningham
    Pryzbilla/Aldridge

although Jones is also injury prone so maybe not a great idea.

I'd do the swap for sure, The question is, would Miami? I know it's reported that they'd trade Jones if the right deal came along; is Steve Blake the best they can do?

KP is never trading Blake. I fully expect him to sign Blake to a career contract when his is up this year as well. I have come to terms that unfortunately, Blake will be a Blazer the rest of his career, and given up on the angle of him ever leaving. :devilwink:

I'm not a Blake-lover, but I'm not a Blake-hater either. I think that it's been fairly conclusively proved that more talented creators who can't shoot (Sergio, Sessions, Miller) are of very low value in today's NBA. The trend is towards shooters at every position. (Lone exception: Rajon Rondo. But I can bet you he's fucking sick of hearing of how he can't shoot.)

But you've also got to know how to play basketball. I'd do Webster for Jones in a second, and their contracts are pretty much identical.

Miami would jump ALL OVER the Jones for Blake suggestion. There's already been talk of buying Jones out. They would trade Jones for probably ANY expiring contract. I don't understand why. He worked out so well for us, and I'd be willing to give him another shot if it meant that we don't have to watch Martell stop the ball or drive into a crowd again.

I'm not as big a James Jones fan as most seem to be, but in terms of usefullness and need yeah, I'd swap Blake for Jones.

it seems like a deal that would be reasonable for miami. blake is a pretty large upgrade over carlos arroyo as the backup pg there and would likely be a good fit with wade.

"Reasonable" is putting it mildly. As I've said before, Miami are considering buying out Jones's contract! And to get a player who actually fills a need for them (and is really not that much worse than their starting PG) would be gravy. I guarantee it: if the Blazers offered this, Miami would do it yesterday. The fact that Dorell Wright is just starting to play well for them makes Jones even more redundant to them.

But it is not going to happen. So give it up.
