we are playing pretty damn well under our extenuating circumstances. Really. You have to be proud of what we did tonight. We almost beat one of the best teams in the league. The announcers on ESPN showed us a lot of respect on air tonight. Not once did I feel like they were attacking us. We only have 9 guys. 1 OLDDDD guy, one rookie, one pissed off second year guy, one underachiever, one guy trying to fit in, a guy trying hard but being hated, a guy that can't get the demons out of his head, a confused star, half our freaking coach staff is injured... I can't believe sometimes how much I think about this team. I am just rambling on but I just really feel like we need to appreciate our guys a little bit more. It's not like they aren't trying and they are going threw really hard times right now. We gotta be there for our boys better. Don't mean to be a rambling homer... but GO BLAZERS.
The Knicks game was atrocious. Besides that, we seem to be playing well when you consider all the injuries. If we lose tomorrow, I'm going to be disappointed. Tomrrow will be a good test. We should win, but I don't feel all that confident.
I can't blame the guys if we lose. But as long as they try, I will be happy. This is a terrible time, in Blazer history.
This is still better than 2004-05 and 2005-06. I think back to listening to the Blazers lose, lose, lose, and the only joy being "Viktor did well tonight, got that big block in the third quarter before we went down 20..." I think back to that, and smile now. It's bad now, but so much better than before.
It sure is, brother. This is a different kind of pain though. Our guys deserve better than this. The 0405 team didn't deserve a flight to the games. The should have had to ride bikes.
He had that one good game against the Lakers... He will always be fondly remembered by me because he kept our winning streak against the Lakers at home going. Even in the darkest of times, we could beat LA at home.
I think that Dean Demopolis intesnity is starting to wash off on the team more right now, and that is a good thing. I thought it was really cool to listen to the sound bytes, where he talked more about taking control of the game, dictating the game. That is my type of coach. I know his record so far isn't great, but I see some good things happening.
I hate pointing to moral victories considering our expectations to start the season, but that's where we are at. There were some positives from last night. However, regarding Deano, I didn't like Bayless only getting 8 minutes and I didn't like Joel not being in the game down the stretch when Verejao was killing us.
I agree with the rotations. But I have given up on the coaching staff ever playing Bayless much. I may bitch about it a lot in order to vent. But the reality is I know they are never going to play him. He is going to Jermaine Oneal the Blazer collective.
I think we are playing as well as can be expected considering the circumstances. We will likely play .500 ball to finish the season. We need to do a better job of adapting and utilizing what we do have active though. We won't be able to go very far playing 6 guys for the bulk of the minutes with 3 of the available 4 bench players just getting spot minutes.
The Blazers could very well lose 7 out of their next 8 games, starting with tonight. The Bucks are 8-3 at home and are favored by 4. The Blazers are actually the underdogs tonight. They have SAC at home on Tuesday and SHOULD be a win, then Phoenix at home which is pretty shaky, then a 4 game road trip against Orlando, Miami, Dallas, SA, then finish up the 8th game against Denver at home on Christmas. Going to be an ugly stretch and will probably find themselves out of a top 8 seed at the end of it.
