At least from what I saw, he seems very active on the defensive end. He still needs to work on those "out of control dribbling" trying to create, but I love seeing him take the defensive role to a new level. How was he in the last 4 game besides last night? I didn't watch them.

If that was "great", then I don't want to see what "bad" is.

The Blazer's best defensive unit was Blake/Bayless/Roy/LMA/Przy, which happened to be the group that played most of the 4th quarter together.

Webster didn't hurt the team last night, so that was a plus.

He is not a star. I already accepted that years ago. All I want from him is to keep a body on his man, hit the three and help on D. He did that well last night. At least enough to disrupt the flow of the other team's offense.

I can live with that. I liked that he hit a couple of 3s. His shot looked great on those two, but the corner airball was a bit perplexing.

I'm just saying that Webster isn't a player that will be pissed playing off the bench. I think once Batum comes back, it will be nice having those two anchor the 3 spot. They will frustrate the hell out of teams. Webster should have been picked about 17th-25th his rookie year. That's how i rate his quality. Still a fan of his.

His form (Which is usually perfect) looks way off to me. It looks like he is shooting the 3 ball with a bit of a hitch to it. Hopefully it comes around quickly. Like tomorrow.

Webster rarely "hurts" the team. He puts the most energy into defense out of anyone on the team...Right now he is easily our best perimeter defender.

He's so mediocre it's sickening to think we took him in the top-10.

I honestly think we missed the boat on Jonas Jerebko, a second round steal.

He's that flex SF/PF we could really use right now. A legit 6'10" and athletic. A pure hustle player who looks like he'll develop into a very reliable shooter.

Seconded. He played great compared to what he's been putting out on the floor for most of the season, but this was purely average NBA starter material last night (both offensively and defensively).

At this point I'll take it.

I'd say that's more damning toward the rest of the team than a positive ... he's not good, average sure, but not good.

I must have been watching a different game. Aside from a monster dunk, he was pretty mediocre.

Although was that the first game of the season where Martell didn't take off from the wing and get whistled for a blatant travel? Seems like he's always good for one or two of those per game. Just like Blake stepping out of bounds on a 3-pointer.

OH don't get me wrong, Martell made his fair share of bad plays last night. The difference was he played with some effort, and actually scored some points, where a few games ago, he would have just stunk it up all the way around.

A person I was sitting next to at the game said that Maretell is the lowest rated starting SF in the league.

I didn't feel like getting into it with him so I accepted the statement and moved on . . . but has anyone else heard this or know where a stat like this would come from?

Last I looked on CBS sports player rankings he was 36th, but for some reason he is listed as a SG instead of a small forward. Put it this way. Some teams have 3 small forwards better than our starter.

I used to not be able to talk about Martell without using conjunctions. If he gets his feet set. When he isn't forcing things. After the airball.

I think we just need to accept that this is the finished product. He does some things that suck you into thinking he can be a good, and he does a lot more to suggest he doesn't get it. In his 4th full season, he still looks like a rookie most nights. It's finally sinking in that he isn't going to get better. So when I consider last night's game, it was typical Martell. He made a couple of 3's, airballed another, grazed the side of the backboard on yet another, had a monster dunk, missed a box out and gave up a layup . . . all things I'm accustomed to seeing from him. Nothing more, nothing less . . .

If there is one piece of knowledge I have learned over the years, it is that project players rarely turn out to be worth a damn. When they draft a guy and all they have going for them is that they are athletic and young, you should pretty much steer clear of those players. The Shawn Kemps are far and few between.
