I want to come forward and admit, I doubted Bayless. Perhaps there are others that wish to confess their sins. [IMG]

Just remember...if you go into one of those booths and there's a hole about 3 feet off the ground...leave.

As I recall from last year, this thread should be a lot longer than it is.

I don't think many people doubted he was a good basketball player - they just questioned whether he was a true PG.

No, I think many people questioned whether he was a good basketball player. I remember him being labelled as selfish, and one person even said he was the type of player nobody else wanted to play with, if I remember right.

Yeah but I think we debated over and over and over that we didn't need a "true" PG with Roy. That eventually Bayless could be the type of player that would compliment Roy. Many argued that he was nothing more than a short SG that could not shoot and was over rated on D.

It's not like Bayless can't pass. He averaged 4.3 APG/36 last year and 3.5APG/36 this year. He's also turning the ball over less.

Hey I agree with you. I said that last year. I have been his biggest fan. i agreed with many last year that he was not quite ready, but I have always had faith in him. (And I realize he will still have some growing pains this year as well.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I've been pretty consistent in saying Bayless is a high-level talent and has the talent and skillset to be a great complement to Roy in the backcourt. I still think so. ;)

At this point, as much as I respect Miller's career performance, I'm pretty willing to elevate Bayless to starter minutes and see what he can do. Trade whichever of Miller or Blake brings the highest return and let the other one back up Bayless.

If anything it just confirms what an assclown Nate is for stifling his progress by letting him rot on the bench.

I suppose, but Bayless is a different player this year. He's in control, he makes the right decisions. He knows when to shoot, when to give it up. He's turned down the turnovers.

I thought Bayless deserved more minutes last year, but this year, he's actually earning them with his play, and Nate knows it.

Agreed he is a lot more mature with the ball this year.
But, do you not think with a chance to play atleast some extended minutes, last season, we may have seen this Bayless emerge sooner.

Who knows how good he could have been right now, if given the chance?

Perhaps this year. But let's not get carried away, he looked Baaaad in summer league and last year he did not make good decisions with the ball (he always looked rushed and on the edge of control). It may have taken ten games too long this year, but a 1/4 season with as much turmoil and bodies falling all over the place as we've seen, I think Nate's actually done a passable job in a horrendous situation.

I still think Bayless looks more comfortable playing a Vinnie Johnson role than as a starter and he still has a lot of growing to do, so I think you give him 25-30 minutes a night for now and if he keeps making strides you can expand his role.

Also; who would've thought that Bayless' attitude, demeanor, competetiveness and hustle where just what the Blazers needed.

This coaching staff is a joke.

(if only LMA had the mentality of Bayless; now that would be something)

^Yeah. Watching him play off of Roy was beautiful though.

they just need one play: when roy is not in the game, and there are 5 seconds left on the shot clock, dish to bayless and let him crash the hoop... a good percentage of the time he will make the shot or draw a foul.

if that's all he does, he will be an asset
