I hate to say it, but he reminds me of a bigger version of this guy (at least his shot does)

I don't see how anything Jerryd does resembles anything Damon ever did.

A smarter, faster, better Jarrett Jack.

As KP said, "Jarrett Jack on steroids."

A bigger Damon is an interesting comparison.

don't you remember the excitement of Damon taking it to the rack? The highlight dunks? Living at the FT line? Me either. In defense of the other poster's point, I do see some of the same limitations as far as playmaker mentality with the two... both seem to have more of a scorer's mentality. But come on, barefoot Damon stood about 5'9 while Jerryd is 6'2

My best case comparison for JB is KJ

It's extremely premature after a few good games, but our backcourt of Bayless and Roy has the potential of being this generation's version of the early 70s Lakers' backcourt of Gale Goodrich and Jerry West. While Goodrich was technically listed as the PG and West the SG, West was the main distributor (like Roy) and Goodrich's primary role was to score (like Bayless).

By that point in his career, Wilt was 5th on the team in FGA/G (at less than 10 FGA/G) and "only" averaged about 15 PPG, but was one of the best defensive centers in the game, led the league in rebounding and FG% (sound like anyone you know?).

Although Roy's production last season, was similar to West's, Bayless still has a long way to go before our backcourt can be considered a modern version of Stumpy and Mr. Clutch (even the nicknames seem to fit).

Except Bayless has no problem finishing around the basket.

I like this one the most...KJ had 20 and 10 for a few years and that's not going to happen for Bayless. Francis, I just dont see it. Damon...No. JJack on steroids would still be really extremely annoying to watch.

Notice how I said "a bigger version" and by bigger I mean taller and stronger.

I think the scorers mentality and shooting form are very similar between the two. If Damon were 6'2 and as big as Jerryd, don't you think we would have seen the same dunks? He was just too small to be an efficient scorer around the rack.

That's a pretty good comparison, although I don't recall Jerry being the distributor. He averaged 25 ppg after all. But Gail was a great shooting PG, sort of like bayless might become - IF he learns how to do more than put his head down and drive to the hoop.

Kevin Johnson and Steve Francis would be great best possible comparisons.

He reminds me of Ellis and Billups as well.

Another name I was thinking about is Sam Cassell

Good Lord, if he's Kevin Johnson, then we're set. For those who have forgotten how good he was, here were his stats:

    http://www.basketballreference.com/players/playerpage.htm?ilkid=JOHNSKE01

When checking the comparitive players, notice the one that most closely mirrors Johnson. :devilwink:

As an aside, at one point the Suns had KJ, Kidd and Nash on their roster. Unreal.

how would Damon have played if he was 7'2? Thats only a little less relevant.

I don't think a Damon comparison holds much water. Besides playing below the rim, dude could blow any layup.

man, if Damon was 7'2", he would almost be as good as HA! Imagine if Ha had been 5'10"?

    blows the mind, no?

Presumably not in connection with Bayless, though, right? Because there isn't that much similarity, except perhaps in height. Sam was much craftier, less of an athlete, more of a shooter, liked to post up a lot and about the opposite in temperament and happy-go-luckiness.

    Anthony Peeler?
    Hollywood Robinson?
    A shorter Corey Maggette?
    A poor man's Rodney Stuckey?

I think the Steve Francis comparison is pretty apt.
