One game does not an all-star make is the arguement.

case in point, on another site, someone posted Westbrook vs Tyreke Evans who's the better player. Everyone said Evans and yet last year everyone was talking about what a prospect Westbrook was.
It's called flash in the pan syndrome.

You're proclimation is WAY too soon, hell wait at least 20 games and keep in mind Yi's good games was vs the 6-24 T-Wovles

Does that make sense to you?

On March 17th 2004 Kwame Brown scored 30 points and had 19 rebounds..... Stop all the Oden Hate!

Eric, I'm sorry you're so insecure. Congratulations on your prediction being right for a short stretch.

Frye has also put up some nice numbers from behind the arc and is probably younger.

There should be a good bet here somewhere.

Here Eric, guess what, when Nets fans are jumping into a thread to tell you how off you are about one of their players AND YOU ARE PRAISING THAT PLAYER, there might be a flaw in your ability to evaluate talent. (it might also matter that his only two good games of the season have come against the slightly less pitiful Timberwolves)

No you love being a "what have you done for me lately" guy. Yi has had a good game here or there before. It doesn't make him good.

Was he good in all those games during his career that he didn't show up? Nope. Where were your post then?

So, one good (GOOD, not GREAT) game makes Yi a perennial All-Star in spite of 2+ years of total suckage? If only that were true, Tony Delk would be a 1st ballot Hall-of-Famer. After all, he once scored 53 points in a game on 20-27 shooting.

Your comparison to Oden is garbage. In 2+ seasons, Yi has been very UNPRODUCTIVE, when he's managed to be on the court. In 1+ season, Oden has been very PRODUCTIVE when he's been on the court. Oden has a career PER of 19.5, way above average and borderline All-Star. Yi's career PER is a very below average 11.2. FWIW, Tony Delk's career PER was 13.7. How many All-Star teams did he make?

    Oden:
    2008-09 PER = 18.1
    2009-10 PER = 23.4

    Yi:
    2007-08 PER = 11.3
    2008-09 PER = 10.9
    2009-10 PER = 13.5*

    Notice any differences?

    * and that's for just five games, and is heavily influenced by that ONE good game that has you convinced he's now a perennial All-Star. So, even when one uncharacteristically good game counts for 20% of his PER, he's still below average.

In short, he's no Tony Delk.

If he ever makes an All-Star team it will be based entirely on the nationalistic pride of 1.6 billion Chinese causing them to stuff the ballot boxes, not because he deserves it based on his on-court play.

the nba rigs the allstar voting. if not, with the size of china, why wouldn't yi be a lock to start?

let's not count yi out. he's an 80% ft shooter and he raised his 3pt% to 34 last season. he's also tall and athletic. he needs to raise his offensive rebounding. he has a shot at becoming a productive jumpshooting big man like channing frye and jared dudley and during his prime years could help many nba teams. he also enjoys a robust reputation in international basketball.

If his upside is Channing Frye, there is little chance (outside of ballot box stuffing) he will ever become one-time All-Star, let alone a "perennial" one.

    BNM

    P.S. I like Channing, but he's NOT All-Star material.

I think that Yi is a write in, which makes it hard to be voted in. I'll have to go check the ballot and see if he is even on it.

I think they turned your character into a deranged lunatic to give you a hint. You might be the most reactionary fan in the history of sport.

You know, I would be embarrassed if I were all you guys. Kingspeed says obvious moronic opinions. There are several theories WHY he has moronic posts but I think we can all agree that they are beyond lame. So if newcomers check this place out they would think we are all the same ridiculous opinions of KS because his pathetic thread topics generate posts...like this one

    notice mods...just bashing opinions
