So, you're saying you're drunk right now, or you're sitting on the toilet? Otherwise, you make no sense.

Homers always overvalue their own players.

Blazers have to make a one-sided deal because NBA G.M.'s are anal in their nature and won't do anything because they're too afraid of making a mistake.

My deal I proposed isn't one-sided, as the Blazers get the best player in the deal. You always want to get the best player in the deal.

Travis Outlaw is not a very good player. He's a great shooter, but he still acts like a rookie anytime he has to work with 4 other teammates on the court Offensively or Defensively. Plus, he could walk at the end of the year, so there's no guarantee that Memphis would get him, except in a matching offer, which could be too high for them. Pendergraf is helpful, but his upside is no where near Marc Gasol's, and he's 3 years behind Gasol's career in experience, as he won't accomplish what Gasol is accomplishing in 2009-10 until 2012-13. The 1st Round pick means absolutely nothing to the Blazers as they have too many young players for 2010-12. The cash is irrelevant to the Blazers.

The Window is open for the Blazers and they need to try to step through it.

If you think anybody was suggesting this deal was one-sided in Memphis' favor, you are sorely mistaken. Marc Gasol is a borderline-all-star center this year. There is NO CHANCE that Memphis would trade him for that garbage package you concocted. None.

they are last in the league, but 12,500 or so people are currently paying good money to see the Griz these days. They are also 13-16 and still relatively new players in the Memphis market. They already have the lowest payroll in the league and do get a share of league revenues (TV) plus are the beneficiaries of the luxury tax. Further slashing costs/grabbing the cash pulls the plug on a decent season... doesn't seem a good way to build fan loyalty and a poor long term plan.
you're dreaming about something crazy happening, which is fine, but it's a dream & not anything close to real. How can Memphis turn that down??? Seriously?

Funny how Gasol could win us a championship this year, but they would trade him for a mere $3M (the max you can throw in a deal) and fodder. Gasol went to high school in Memphis and was a huge reason for the Griz making the Pau deal.

As for the original topic, here is how I see it.

    1. Miller - has not been a perfect fit with this team and has a modest contract
    2. Mills - He is practicing, so there will be time to see what contribution he can make before the deadline. KP likes to make little deals.
    3. Outlaw - Could be moved to a team seeking financial help.
    4. Blake - Less likely to go than Outlaw since he is healthy, but it would seem that both would have gotten extensions if they were in our long term plans.
    5. Cunningham - Seems like a nice prospect, but he is still not getting playing time. I do not think we are that attached.
    6. Webster - His production and salary are not equal, but could see us finally pulling the plug on the Martell experiment.
    7. Rudy - Cannot play beside Roy. If we can get something back in return, do we really need him to backup the 2?
    8. Pendergraph - Definitely not married to him, but a nice cheap alternate C.
    9. Howard - Do not see him dealt unless he gets injured.
    10. Joel -Would require a handshake agreement that Joel would not exercise his option, the other team releases him, and we sign him for the MLE. Either that or we take on major salary. Not seeing it.
    11. Bayless - Young, cheap, and contributing. Still needs to fix holes in his game, but would require a star coming back.
    12. Batum - Same as with JB but with less flaws. Already turned down a trade for Crash, so you know KP loves him.
    13. Oden - Would require a top talent coming back. Do not think any team would do this now. Only above Roy and LA since a team could take a chance if we took on major salary.
    14. LA - PPP makes this very unlikely, along with his contract about to make alot of overpaid lists.
    15. Roy- PPP and being the cornerstone of the franchise makes a trade unlikely.

If it were me, I would for sure keep Roy, Aldridge, and Oden in that order. Bayless and Batum are two players who I would trade if it were for fair value or even a little more value coming our way. I look at those two as a part of our future, however, and believe they will stay and be the other 2 to start with Roy, Aldridge, and Oden in 2 years max. I wouldn't move Rudy for some quick fix at center (unless it is a nice potential/young prospect), however, I am opened to trading him as I feel he will leave town anyway since the player ahead of him will get most of the minutes and Bayless looks to mesh better with Roy (and can help handling the ball in the 4th whereas Rudy cannot).

Basically, my list is near similar Charcoal Filtered after I think about it. :)

I love how Benner thought it was lopsided in Memphis' favor. Dear lord...

I like Charcoal's list, but I'd put Miller behind Blake because I think Blake's expiring deal and coming out of his shooting slump makes him slightly more enticing than Miller. Also, factoring the salary that we'd have to get back for a Miller deal would imply that we'd be getting someone that we'd hold onto. I don't know if we could get a player worth holding onto long-term for Miller. You would assume that if we traded Miller, it would be to a contender looking for a bit extra for the playoffs (preferably Eastern conference), which to me would imply that they wouldn't be looking to give us something important back because it would make them worse for the playoffs.

    Thanks for the post "Filtered!"

I was hoping others would reply in similar fashion!

I would truly be interested for others to post their list and brief reasoning in a similar "ranking" as this helps to narrow down how this board assesses who the most-likely-to-be-traded and "why" -

Good points and I debated Blake/Miller for awhile. The big point that swayed me was fitting in next to Roy. If Miller were dealt, I could see something where we get a big on a cheap contract. Charlotte could have interest.

By having Rudy in my number one position of Most Likely to be Traded, does not mean that I would want to see Rudy go.

I'm just saying that, coupled with an expiring (Outlaw or Blake or Pryzbilla) he'd be tops on my list of most likely.

We need a big - and badly. Someone will have to go - just so we can get a big, if nothing else. I cannot fathom going 50 more games without one!

Rudy scares me. He's one of those guys that could really punish our team. I would hate to watch him drop 40 on us, which I believe he's more than capable of doing. He would be motivated each and every game against the Blazers to sock it to us. If he's dealt, I sure hope it's to some Eastern Conference team, with no chance of Playoffs. :D

I agree. I really didn't think Bayless was the right guard to play along-side Roy, but he's proven that he can. Also, Bayless is good and quick enough to put the pressure on the smaller guards. You know those teams that kill us with their penetrating guards? Anyways, Fernadez is just as quick and gambles a little more. I love the three guard rotation of Roy, Bayless and Rudy. Miller is starting to show us why we needed some veteran help at PG. And HELL even Blake is providing some clutch minutes.

Gortat plays for Orlando! Perhaps a chance to win a ring for Rudy, not a scenario of "no chance of playoffs" with such a trade as proposed.

Trading Rudy to an Eastern team means we see him less.

If he were so scary, he'd be an All-Star. I love Rudy (at times), but I'd love a Center even more!!

Rudy + Blake is a healthy package to ship out. This is why I would ask for Gortat plus a nice pick of Orlando's to balance things out a bit.

Gortat would have to agree to the trade - but I don't see this as being a problem, as he'd get serious minutes here!

This protects us when Joel moves on as well.

To enhance the trade with Orlando:

    Blake + Rudy + Outlaw

    for

Gortat + Bass + Jason Williams (who we could cut later)

    Trade works at RealGM.com

Why would Gortat have to agree to the trade?

Terms of the CBA. And he cannot be traded to Dallas.

[these are specific terms to Gortat - and are in effect until July 18th, 2010]

What term of the CBA gives him veto on a trade?

I don't know. Rudy was the best Euro basketball player. And how can you be on the all-star team, being a back up? Rudy's problem, is he plays the same position as our super-star. If he's on any team needing a SG, he would do so much better. I wouldn't be okay with knocking him down, just because he's not playing in some "popularity" contest game like the all-star game. I've seen him get on fire, and I would hate to be on the receiving end of that.

I don't know much about Gorgat. Is he any good?
