...that gets McGrady('s contract) to EITHER Philly (in which case we get Iguodala) OR Washington (in which case we get Butler) Restrictions: * the trade must be attractive to all sides. For Philly/Washington, this just means dumping salaries, preferably their worst For Houston, this means getting some expirings in return but also young, cheap, good prospects. For us it means getting Iggy or Butler. * the trade must work on TradeMachine Here's my attempt: Philly gives: Brand and Iggy ($27.1M) gets: McGrady and Andre Miller (back) ($29.6M) Rationale Brand's contract is ATROCIOUS, and Iggy's only slightly less so. Miller should be a fan fave, and Mr. Princeton Offense Himself just said they need a real PG. Houston gives: McGrady ($22.8M!!!) gets: Blake, Outlaw, Przybilla, Webster ($18.8M) PLUS rights to Claver/Freeland Rationale Get a mixture of expiring contracts (Blake, Outlaw) plus SOME young talent. Probably not enough to tempt them unless Przybilla's contract was expiring too and Webster was actually good. Portland gives: Miller, Blake, Outlaw, Przybilla, Webster ($25.5M) PLUS rights to Claver/Freeland gets: Iggy and Brand ($27.1M) Rationale Brand gives us a big who isn't injured, and who destroyed us in the last game. Iggy would make a healthy Portland starting five the best in the league. This trade is suboptimal in several ways, not least of which is that it would leave Bayless (and a recalled Mills) as our only PGs. Maybe we could persuade Houston to do the "Gary Payton/Brent Barry" trick of waiving Blake instantly so we get him back in 30 days. [Edit: the trade also works if you substitute Bayless for Blake. Would the Rockets prefer that? Enough to make the difference? I dunno.] Obviously this trade would be more likely to happen if we were giving up players like Batum and or Rudy, but I'm not sure I'd do it then. Supposedly Iggy as part of a package for McGrady has been discussed, but there's no way the Rockets would take on Brand or Dalembert, and I don't see Philly throwing in younger players.
1. "LeBron Jr."???? Maybe his mom calls him that. But it's VERY Jr given Philly's record. 2. Check the link - supposedly Iggy for McGrady (i.e., a complete salary dump) has been discussed. 3. The main aim for the crap, money-hemorrhaging Sixers is to dump Brand's salary. Iggy (who, by the way, is way overpaid for the numbers he puts up) is the price to do so.
But he's part of the core in Memphis, right? I mean, he was playing so well that of course they gave him a contract extension, right? I never understood why, given that his medical contract-termination was voided, they couldn't void his waiving too.
I was talking about his build more than his teams record and it might help if his team wasn't really bad...Either way the trade doesn't really make sense for anybody. This isn't NBA 2K10.
