Fracture, with a time table of 4-6 weeks? That's awfully optimistic. Maybe 4-6 weeks before he is into the thick of physical therapy. But back in a game? I would imagine it would be longer than that. If it is a fracture, let's hope it's very mild or on a part of the ankle that doesn't bear as much weight as other parts...

The guy is 6'11, better be safe than sorry and just keep em out until he's ready. This season can't be salvaged anyway.

I hope the other players remain more under control and have the strength conditioning. This should have never happened. Randolph could have been tired or he was trying to be too active. Unfortunately, Randolph is a leaper and he's not that strong yet. So perhaps he got tired and misjudged the timing and landed awkward as a result.

The season can't be salvaged, but the one thing I wanted to see happen is for these young guys to get experience. Now that's not going to happen and it turns into yet another lost season, instead of a productive losing one. I mean Curry is getting experience and showing his talent but Randolph is the one who needs it the most, and perhaps he is the player the team needs to be developed he most to advance. Add Wright, Azubuike, and the lost time for Biedrins and it's another disaster, I'm so sick of this endless curse on this team. Even in the unlikely event eveyone comes back healthy next year, they'll be starting almost from scratch. Again.

This is making lemonade out of lemons, but I guess AR can't be traded now.

CT scan showed NO FRACTURE. I wonder if they'll do an MRI to get more detail on the ligaments, tendons, cartilage.

I wonder which would be worse -- separated tendons, or a fracture... whatever the case, it's great news to hear there's no fracture...

It really depends, but torn ligaments are bad too. It will eventually require surgery. Torn ligaments will result in bone to bone contact, which will result in bone spurs and bone chips. In some cases, a fracture might be better news because ultimately it will heal without surgery.

I'm no doctor but I tend to think that with most athletes fractures aren't as bad as tendon issues. I've heard that once you break a bone and it heals its stronger than it was before, sounds unlikely to me but who knows. Tendon issues seem to have potential effects on long term explosiveness and can re-occur somewhat commonly at times.

Either way there's no rush to get him back. Even if he's out 6 weeks there will still be plenty of time later in the season for him to get burn. Worst of all this is now we have to see more and more of Mags at PF. Maybe we get some more Chris Hunter at C while Mags/Turiaf fill in at the 4. Probably just wishful thinking though.

It's more than that now... MIR reveals two torn ligaments and an avulsion fracture where the tendon separates from the bone...

That's bad, but he will recover. This will probably teach him how not to get injured in the future. You can still play hard without being reckless. If you think about it, this injury is a byproduct of his immaturity/age/inexperience.
