The Lakers need to contact the Rockets and see if they would like to set the clock back and swap Ariza for Artest!
Update .. The possibility of Kirk Hinrich being traded to the Lakers was a topic that was touched on yesterday. The Daily Herald reports the Bulls have had discussions with the Lakers about Hinrich, most likely for Adam Morrison and Sasha Vujacic, but nothing is imminent. The biggest hurdle for the Lakers is the two years and $17 million remaining on Hinrich's contract after this season.
I wouldn't mind Kirk at all. He's a good defensive player and is a good shooter, he's definitely an upgrade at the PG spot.
Does this move Fish to the bench? Hinrich as the 6th man? Hopefully the 1st option. Hinrich Bryant Artest Gasol Bynum As us Lakers' fans love to say: GET IT DONE MITCH!
It's a solid trade if Mitch can get Chicago to agree on Sasha + Morrison for Hinrich. Hinrich's contract actually declines the next two seasons $9.5M 2009, $9.0M 2010 , $8.5M 2011 The deal won't have much effect on their cap situation this season or the next two.
Hmmm... im all for hinrich coming over... this will give shannon brown sasha's mins. playing the 2 spot off the bench. I hope Phil manages a way to balance fish's hinrich's and farmar's mins. A second unit of hinrich - brown - walton - odom - powell would be solid.
BTW, if given a choice... who would you prefer or think would be a better fit for our team? Hinrich (9.4M. 3yrs left) or Devin (8.5M, 4yrs left)
Shannon Brown is already ahead of Sasha on the depth chart. Sasha barely plays anymore. I think the Lakers will wait to see what other teams do first. This deal will likely be available at anytime for the Lakers to pull the trigger on. When you have these Amare to Cavs or Amare to Spurs rumors floating around it's in the Lakers best interest to wait before making a move.
I've never been a huge fan on Hinrich, but either way, he's a huge upgrade over Fish. We need to do something about point guard, and if this is the best we can do, I won't be disappointed.
Amare to the Cavs for basically nothing (since they will most probably get Z back) is a scary thought...
Yeah I'd hate to see him go there. He would give the Cavs a lot of flexibility and an added uptempo lineup when Amare plays center. Currently the Cavs don't have this dimension and are limited to making adjustments during a playoff series. I'm not sure what the Lakers could do to counter this move.
^we just need to strengthen our weakest link... the PG position... and im confident we can take on the Cavs+Amare. But it will be close.
Getting Hinrich would be crazy awesome for the team. Our biggest defensive liability would be holed up immediately. Damn, DO IT MITCH!
The Lakers will wait to see if any of the other top teams make a substantial upgrade. The Lakers can only trade the expiring contract of Adam Morrison once.
