I have not seen such a horrible officiated game in a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time as I did tonight. Horrible horrible horrible officiating. Half the time the refs were guessing on calls. There were several H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E. calls on both sides of the ball tonight. Williams 4th foul (offensive foul) was a BS call. The foul on Batum's dunk that wasn't called at the end of the 1st quarter. I mean I could go on and on.
I haven't seen the RG crowd that incensed since that game against the Lakers when Scottie got tossed and we threw all the Bill Walton dolls on the court. We booed straight through the quarter break!
Maybe next time, Utah seems like they're too much for the Blazers now that Oden and Pryz are gone taking away the size advantage.
Right now they are, for sure. There's a reason they're #1 in Hollingers Power Rankings at the moment, they are playing some excellent basketball. And, oh ya, I hate the Utah Jazz.
Utah are good when they get mass assists. They had 29 tonights, which usually means they're going to shoot a high percentage like tonight.
Ya u guys took us out behind the woodshed tonight. I fell asleep and only tuned in for the last 18 minutes of the game (jesus christ i drank too much, i never miss a game), and from what I hear I saved myself some rage. I like to feel sorry for myself so I'll just continue thinking that "only against Portland" would a team shoot 60%. God hates me, and I hate the utah jazz.
This. The whole scrappiness/great character meme was nice....but talent wins in the end. Take away Roy, and this team just doesn't have that much. They are "deep", in the sense of having multiple, interchangeable bodies - but very shallow in terms of impact players.
what a strange game looking at the box score, we killed them on the o-glass, they had 10 more turnovers.... they shot over 60%, we shot 35%, loss every time.
I see a lot of folks saying don't hate the officials for this one. They are a piece of it. The facts are in the first half the officials jacked us. It didn't decide the game, but it did pile it on. This game could have been much closer if they had called it correctly. Also many of you seem to forget that often players who get to the line and see a few free throws get in the hoop will get their rhythym going. So yes this loss is on the Blazers. But it doesn't make what the officials did right.
Why in the hell did Blake play at all in the 4th quarter? Bring in Bayless! We went the first 3 minutes of the 4th without scoring because we had an all-passive team in there..just a horrible lineup to start the 4th. Can we just waive Blake? We are healthy at the guards an Miller,Bayless > Steve, so he needs to be the 3rd string point guard, but you know that'll never be the case as long as he is coached by Nate.
I agree. The refs didn't 'decide' the game in that they didn't 'jack' us in the fourth quarter. But they sure contributed their part to the depth of the hole the Blazers dug in the first quarter. That was about as bad and one-sided reffing as I've seen in a long time, and the Jazz didn't really need the help at that point.
I was just reading the box score and I have to call bullshit on this. They have Steve Blake at a +/- of 0. No fucking way. That stretch in the first half where he missed shot after shot and Utah scored says that is bullshit alone. He didn't play enough in the second half to make up for that stretch.
Wow, that sure seems fucking wrong. I thought the Jazz outscored Portland by around 10 points when Blake was "playing" in the first half. Since he only got about three minutes in the second half I have no idea how he made those points up. The two man game between Blake and LA is made of fail.
