I'm sitting here watching the pre-game, and wondering to myself "what happens if Nate gets fired/leaves" Is TP a coaching candidate? He certainly flopped in Phoenix, but he had a pretty good run in Milwaukee. He's commited to a half-court system that features post ups, and he preaches D as positives, but would it be the same steady diet of isos and uninspired jump shooting crap? Would his offensive scheme be just as predictable and hideous as Nate's? Is this a terrible idea? Should I lay off the cocaine/weed/percocet/LSD?
At least lay off the coke and percocet, they're bad for you. ...and I'd be really bummed if for some reason TP was considered as a replacement for Nate...I have yet to see him do a good job as a coach...
He may or may not have a good coaching career ahead of him. With the talent level of this team, when healthy, I'd hope for a more proven coach. I'd have to waste 3 years and find out Porter is actually not a good coach. But don't ask me who that proven coach is. I'm better on the conceptual side of things than the details.
No, not really ... it was (as the thread title explicitly states) a random thought. I do doubt that Nate is the guy to take this team to the promised land, and Terry is back within the organization, and I suspect Paul Allen would consider giving him the job (rightly or wrongly), so I'm just wondering what would happen if he were installed as the coach.
I think that if Nate McMillan leaves, Monty Williams would be a more likely candidate than Terry Porter.
