CrGiants, cbsurfer... And if any of you go back to the AOL board days when that was the place to hang.....CrGiants, PuffShakur, and a few others.
Who was from ESPN? Someone should convince mlps2000 to come here. I miss his threads always ending in "Oh no!"
mine is broke. also makes me harder to track down for internet stalkers! I have about 30-40 screen names I've used on various boards. Random reasons.
I've always been "maxiep" with the exception of losing that moniker in an unfortunate foray to the Pistons' forum at mlive.com (affiliated with O-Live). After that I became RiggoDrill.
I've always been BrianFromWA, except on Olive when somehow I got banned, and became BannedBrian. I'm pretty original when I want to be.
Was bigrugo2525 on espn and switched to theprunetang on bbf. Now, I guess I am handclap problematic. good times.
BobWhitsittsGhost and some others. Here are some threads about changing screen names. 5 months before I first posted on Sports 2, Adrenalize (a good guy) is seeing my ghost. http://sportstwo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140892 Post #s 5 and 21 http://www.basketballforum.com/portland-trail-blazers/364597-breaking-news.html#post4835920 Post #s 1155 and 1156 http://www.basketballforum.com/port...7-deal-coming-soon-merged-77.html#post4891907 Post #s52 and 53 http://www.basketballforum.com/port...-did-you-come-up-your-name-4.html#post4940799 Post #s 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 18 http://www.basketballforum.com/port...gs-fellow-roundball-fanatics.html#post5205724 Comment on that last link: ProudBFan's paranoia really came out. He merged 3 posters he disliked into me. Anyone could see the 3 had different writing styles and were different people. Proud used to hint that I was crazy, but he was the one who had the headaches, took time off from the ESPN board because of the stress of Blazer players he disliked, posted that he would henceforth be a troll when the team didn't make the trades he wanted (his trollage only lasted a few days), e-mailed the Blazer management all the time about players he disliked (and announced to us upcoming trades which never happened--his contact was just trying to placate the emotional guy), jumped ship to BBB, and later posted forever on BBB about his divorce and failed dates. When he used to accuse me of being nuts, I was quietly wondering the same about him. No, I am not Derek Wong or Mpls2000. In fact, I used to make fun of Mpls' clipped Oriental writing style all the time. Don't know how Proud missed that. Well, it's all in the past. I miss Proud and JWHoops. If I start talking about Whitsitt or Iraq, maybe they'll take me on.
Creating sock puppets has has been around as long as there have been internet message boards. If he had the ability to merge multiple usernames into one, he probably also had the ability to see the IP addresses of the computers you were posting from. Anyone can fake multiple writing styles, but the IP addresses give you away. I always knew Maris61 posted under multiple usernames at ESPN. It was the only way he could ever get anyone to agree with his painfully stupid stances on most issues. He admits as much in that last BBF thread you linked. BNM
You're wrong. Maris only tried it about twice, for one month each time, maybe less. I did it a lot more than him. It adds to the fun. You should try it on that board (not here, they check). But you run out of energy after a couple of months. The novelty wears off. The best time was when Kobe was in trouble in Colorado and the Laker board exploded with trolls for a few weeks. They were all arguing as if it were life and death. Many outsiders joined the debates. Knowing I might be banned, I quickly made up 2 names. I went on as one name who was against Kobe, and another name who was for him. Other Blazer posters were there arguing against Kobe. Maris was there, under his own name, as always (you way overestimate his use of names). So in the blizzard of a thousand posts one night, I got in a few of my own for Kobe, and a few against him. In one thread, I argued both sides with many people, including with my other name. That was fun. The Laker mods called out the reserves. They had a lot of mods banning people those nights. Guess which one of mine got banned on the Laker board. The one in favor of Kobe? No--the one AGAINST him. Weird. Those guest mods weren't Laker fans.
e_blazer on ESPN e_blazer1 on BBF after the stupid registration form got fouled up and wouldn't take e_blazer. reverted to e_blazer here. Hmmmm. Man, I'm boring.
