translation = roy will play after the deadline which sets up kpees failure to deal again. can you hear the excuses coming???

the only saving grace will be the league laughing at him when the thunder get a solid playoff seed and we are watching from kpees favorite place... THE LOTTO. Where he excels. Then Kpee can add more young talent and have a roster full of guys who all think they should play and yet nobody fits. Thats kpee in a nut shell. Its the cold hard truth. Hes a pansy when it comes to making deals he falls inlove with his pverated players and wont deal them when its obvious to the entire league we need a consolidation trade. not to mention a big man with oden being hurt as often as webster missing a three. hcp can you pan the camera on kpees face tuesday when durant kills us?

With RLEC, I buy that maybe there weren't any good deals out there that looked better than our FA prospects (RJ was nothing special and Carter's production has dropped to average starter level -- Miller's better and cheaper than both of them). There shouldn't be any excuses now. Still, no deal is better than a bad deal (longterm).

 

What do you think his problem is? Competence or a real love affiair and inability to move them?

 

i think its his love affair with these average players.

guys like bayless, rudy, batum, webster are decnt role players but thats it. maybe...maybe batum could be more but i dont know. they are great vs the bobcats or bucks but vs top quality opponents they are merely average.

kpee has to consolidate but it wont happen anytime soon, he has the perfect excuse now taht roy is is out for february. he will also have the perfect excuse for no playoffs. its so gross. the guy has below average gm skills if its not the lotto. i mean i know its been said 100 times but him going to the lotto is like xmas for him. he will put a fake face on and say we wanted playoffs but thats a lie. he's not a good gm. look at the thunder. thats a gm to envy. kpee is quite overrated. guys on here wanna blame injuries or build up the roster to more then it is but as they say the truth hurts. not making the playoffs exposes as a fraud. even without greg and joel... this roster should make the playoffs. they might get bounced quick but if you wanna throw the word contender around... like everyone does here.. then how can you justify not making the playoffs with most of the group intact???? excuses like the. gee i wonder where blazer fans get it from.

 

Well if that's true, this team won't progress untill he is gone. And by the moves Paul Allen made this year with his Seahawks and it's managment, I kind of doubt that's anytime soon.

If Kp is going to have problems moving his players. You know he is going to have problems firing a coach when and if it's time.

Again, if all those players are average and aren't worth anything to this team, why would a GM trade anything of value for them? You can't have it both ways. It seems like you are bitching just to bitch.

People need to stop picking on Mixum for saying out loud what many other folks are privately thinking - that the Blazers would rather miss the play-offs than take a calculated risk and make a trade.

"None of us knows what deals are out there." True, but beside the point. It *doesn't matter* what trades are available - the Blazers just aren't interested. They would rather be ultra-conservative and play the "let it bake" card.

 

If these injuries to Joel, Oden or Outlaw didn't happen this season we would be contenders. It will be a godsin if we make it past the first round. My only hopes right now is making the playoffs and then being bumped in the first round.

 

Why make that "calculated risk?" What's the potential reward this season? A one-round-and-out? That's what you'd like them to take on risk to accomplish?

If that would be a big deal to you, I can understand why this approach would annoy you. I'd rather the Blazers not accept ANY risk for such a paltry pay-off. Accept risk for possible title contention? Sure. I hope they do take a risk on a trade when they're on the cusp. For a first round exit? Nope.

 

Anyone who is afraid of trades because of risk, should follow college basketball. Trades are part of pro team sports. Pritchard's cowardice holds us back.

We have a couple of players who are both mediocre and redundant, like Webster. Even if we get an average sub for him, it would be an improvement. So saying that only average players are available is irrelevant.

 

So what "quality" players would we get for Webster? You can complain all day that we "overvalue" our players, but the fact is that if we overvalue our guys, other teams are undervaluing those same guys. What was the rumor, Rudy + Batum for Haywood? GTFO! Again, what could we really net for Rudy, Webs, Outlaw, and/or Blake? My feeling is not much.

 

No, it's not always a win-lose situation. It can be win-win if you trade to a team with a different system. The fast break teams are Phoenix, Golden State, New York, etc. Frye is better in Phoenix than he was in McMillan's system. That's why you see the rumor of Rudy to Phoenix. He is worth more to them than he ever will be to us for 2 reasons--they have an uptempo game, and redundancy (he plays the same position as our best player).

 

OK, so Rudy for Amare? It's hard to find a win-win for most teams. Lately it's been a salary dump for most teams, or a team looking to start from scratch. I still don't see how our loose ends will equate to anything of value to another team.

 

If you believe that the curent roster wil A) be 100% healthy and B) can win a championship in its' current form - then you are correct. If you question either of those assumptions, then there are reasons to make trades that go beyond this season.
