On the real tip, just found out he won't play at PHX or in the All-Star game. GOOD!

I guess it's a good thing we didn't trade Rudy because we 'already have Roy'.

If KP had a deal on the table that involved Rudy and the only hold up is that he wouldn't have Roy's primary backup available for a couple of games that would be pretty short sighted.

I disagree. We rely too heavily on Roy, and have him play too many minutes, and don't allow him to heal properly.

He shouldn't be expected to play 38 minutes a night, but closer to 33.

    Official word from the Blazers:

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy will miss Portland's next three games and the NBA All-Star Game with a right hamstring strain, it was announced today by General Manager Kevin Pritchard.

“Unfortunately, I'm not where I was hoping I would be physically at this point,” said Roy. “It's a setback and I'm obviously disappointed, but my entire focus is getting back on the court, contributing and helping our team down the stretch.”

Roy initially injured his hamstring January 13 vs. Milwaukee and re-aggravated it January 20 at Philadelphia. He has missed 11 of Portland's last 12 games heading into tonight's game with the L.A. Lakers.

“This was not a decision that any of us wanted to make, but in the end we had to do what was best for Brandon,” said Pritchard. “We're hopeful that this extended rest will put Brandon in the best possible position to return to the line-up shortly after the All-Star break.”

Roy will undergo Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy with Dr. Neal ElAttrache at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles on Monday.

Roy leads the team in scoring (23.1), free throws made (213) and minutes (38.3), and ranks second on the squad in assists (5.0) and steals (1.03). In just 40 games this season, he has led the team in scoring 25 times and assists on 15 occasions (including ties).

IMHO, it's the right move if he's not 100%. The Blazers are not going to make or miss the playoffs between now and the end of the All-Star break - and especially with Roy not at 100%, he wasn't going to necessarily be the difference-maker in those games.

I hope the platelet procedure does the trick and that Portland is able to win a couple of these games before a welcome break...

    Damn.

I guess more rest is good, but I have no reason to watch any events during the all star weekend now.

Then send Andre. He deserves to be in at least ONE ASG.

No, MIXUM, he won't. He's never going to play again. Neither will Oden. Or Pryz. Or Outlaw. LaMarcus is pissed and wants to be traded. So does Bayless, Rudy, Martell, and Batum. The only ones that want to be Blazers are Blake and the rookies. KP is planning on swapping rosters with the Nets, and tanking for 3 years so that a cancer-ridden Paul Allen will sell the team and it will get moved. The Rose Garden will be demolished, Portland will become the new Detroit in terms of livability, and Western Civilization will slowly die a painful death until the rogue asteroid destroys the planet in 2037.

    Happy now?

No offense Chris, but that's the biggest crock of shit I've read on here in a long long time. It shows your ignorance, and naivety.

Everyone knows the rogue asteroid that destroys the planet comes in 2034, not 37.

Well, this frees up an afternoon that I would have wasted watching the ASG.

I'm surprised. He said in an interview recently he really wanted to play in the ASG due to the venue and the overall experience.

    Awesome!

I was hoping they'd stretch this out through the All-Star game.

Now, they can get back a healthy Roy and we can make a real effort at getting ready for the playoffs. The schedule the rest of the way after the All-Star Break is loaded with 2 and 3 day off periods for Roy and Aldridge and Miller and Howard to rest. Those 4 players need that type of rest for the rest of the year.

I truly believe we can get to 50 wins, giving us probably the 5th or 6th seed in the West.

I don't buy that for a minute. But, it had to be said to satisfy Roy's ego so he'd be "OK" with missing the All-Star game. I'm sure the Blazer, like anyone else with half a brain, wanted Roy to be at 100% before bringing him back and that would mean taking advantage of the break in the schedule for the All-Star game. They just had to do it in a way that was understandable for Roy, thus the "day-to-day" shenanigans. They knew all along that this was the goal. I'm glad it worked out.

Tonight the Lakers, then Tuesday the Thunder, Wednesday the Suns, and on the 16th we'll see Roy with the Clippers, unless they wait 3 more days and bring him back against the Celtics, which wouldn't be a bad idea, too. We should be able to beat the Clippers without Roy. Those 3 more days could really help as we have 6 games in 8 days beginning with the Celtics game. That stretch will put a lot of strain on his hamstring.

He just got replaced by Kaman of the Lakers.
Does this mean ROY doesn't go down in the blazer history books as being selected 3 times? Or does it still count?
