The Stepfather - 2/10 It reminded me of a slower paced, crappy version of Disturbia (which I like, for the record). Movie sucked hugely, I would definitely recommend everyone skip it. I now regret renting it tonight instead of The Surrogates. The only reason I didn't rent that is because I'm afraid to be disappointed, because I loved the graphic novel source material.
That makes me sad, the graphic novel was amazing and an absolute great piece of science fiction. I'll still probably watch the movie, but I do expect to be disappointed.
Whiteout -- 6/10 -- at some point Kate Beckinsale needs to hire an actual agent or, failing that, learn how to read a script. What a waste. If it weren't for The Aviator she'd have one good role to point to in 35-years of acting. Yikes. X-Men Origins: Wolverine -- 5/10 -- calling this movie forgettable is perfect because it ends with the equivalent of [spoiler alert] waking from a fucking dream sequence. Why even bother?
That good huh? I basically refuse to see it because it looks like Harry Potter...and I hate Harry Potter.
omh my god The Marc Pease Experiment is the worst movie ever made. ben stiller, jason schwartzman, sounded interesting.....no.
I did as well. Its a valentine's day themed Love Actually/He's Just Not That Into You. As a movie, its much worse than those two as most/all of the stories are way underdeveloped, pretty predictable, often unconvincing, and there's none of the unhappy endings that we love about those flicks. However it does a pretty damn good job of putting one into a good mood and there's several good laughs to be had (Jamie Foxx is pretty funny in it). As a movie it's pretty crappy but as a date night experience it's money. Charming despite its technical flaws. Definitely worth taking your woman to if you know she likes girly romantic comedies.
That's the thing, the movie does a great job of making you feel really happy or good, ya know, that you don't even notice its flaws. I've seen Love Actually/He's Just Not That Into You/Feast of Love and many more, that are just good at showing the good and bad of relationships. But the movie did ensure that you left happy. Don't want the date to end in some tragic death lol
Shutter Island - It's either an 8.5/10 or 9/10. Scorcese did a damn good job with the movie and it lived up to my lofty expectations (I've been wanting this movie to come out since I first saw a preview for it almost a year ago).
I'd give it a 7.5 or an 8. Boring until the twist started to be revealed. I don't know what it is about DiCaprio, I just can't buy him as one of Hollywood's best actors. I've tried over and over again.
I used to hate DiCaprio, but he's actually become one of my favorite actors. I loved him in The Departed, this, Gangs of New York, and Blood Diamond. I obviously haven't seen all of his movies, but everything that I've recently seen of his, he's been stellar in. And as far as the movie goes, I can see how you would dislike it, because it was a pretty drawn out movie. That didn't take anything away from it for me though, I loved everything leading up to the big twist at the end.
For Scorsese, I was disappointed. It was a good film bhtnot great by his standards. As for Leo, I loved him in Aviator, but everything else he is just average for me. It is like Scorsese is trying to make him into De Niro but Leo isn't talented enough.
Completely fucking agree. Was just talking to my friend about that the other day. Hes not a bad actor by any means but hes really not as good as hes made out to be. I LOVE the Departed but he really wasn't very good in it IMO. I used to think Scorcese should have made Matt Damon the main character and Leo as the rat guy. Then again Matt Damon plays a damn good "rat fuck"...but he can play anything and be money.
