I love the trade. I've always liked Camby's game and his unorthodox jumper. He can rebound with the best of them and is always a pest in the paint. Roy had one of his worst games as a Blazer this year against the Clippers because Camby and Kaman were patrolling the paint effectively. Sad to see Outlaw go, but depending on how things go, we can always resign Travis. Especially if management feels that Martell isn't the answer, which is a likely possibility.
If this trade is completed, I give all the credit to Juwan Howard. He proved to Pritchard that old guys can really play!!
ESPN is now reporting that the trade is not finalized and that another team could make a better offer and thus steal Camby.
ive never seen a team have so much trouble closing deals. its unreal. here comes another nightmare for blazer fans
In addition to the obvious rebounding and interior defense, this is another reason Camby makes sense. He won't demand a lot of touches and take shots away from Roy, Aldridge, Miller, etc. He should be much easier to integrate into our offense than a center who is more focused on his own scoring. I can hear Nate now, "Marcus, I don't want you to worry about scoring, just rebound and play defense". He should fit right in with Nate's game plan. BNM
Link? The in the video at this link (updated at 10:10am EST), Ric Bucher , when asked if "this then more likely than not gets done" says, "I think this does happen, because it just makes too much sense". BNM
I'm surprised J.A. Adande even knew there was another basketball team in Los Angeles. All those years working for the LAT and all he wrote about were the L*kers.
and for the following reason: If I remember correctly Memphis has long been interested in Outlaw, if correct then if the Clips/Blazer deal goes thru I would try to swing Outlaw to Mem for a pick. Also it would save Clips more $$$ this yr which Sterling would likely approve of as Mem has capspace. In addition Blake might be valuable to a team like Orlando or Miami, Clips could easily squeeze more out of this deal IMO
I am starting to like this deal more and more. Blake and Outlaw probably resign elsewhere after this season, so at least we get a guy this season who will really help us (much more than Blake/Outlaw) and we get to evaluate him and see if he would be a good fit for next season. This deal also helps define the roles of guys like Rudy and Bayless.
Well, duh. It's the Clips and Donald Sterling's still the owner. Probably Travis after the Clips waive him.
Done Deal. WojYahooNBA: Blazers send Travis Outlaw, Steve Blake and $3 million to Clippers for Marcus Camby. WojYahooNBA: Sources tell Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports that the Blazers deal with the Clips for Marcus Camby has been completed.
