Damn, I wanted to use the Dave Chappelle reference. I don't actually have a top 5 list and I doubt I ever will. Consensus would say (in no particular order) Jay-Z, Nas, Rakim, KRS-One, and Tupac. For the active artists out there I'd have to say Lupe Fiasco and B.o.B, though he may be too early to tell but he has alot of talent to deny.

Damn, how did forgot about him. Yea he's pretty much been the wonderkid during this decade in hip hop. CunninLynguists is my favourite hip hop group and they also belong to the current decade. I don't know if you guys listen to them but they're popular among true hip hop fans in my country. They're style is very unique, very smooth beats and great lyrics.

Lupe's sick. Kid Cudi's last album was great as well if you wanna talk about current rap.

Army of the Pharaohs is another great group from the current decade imo. So we still have some hope. ;D

I might be in the minority here, but Weezy is a pretty dope modern rapper. I mean hes not saying the most meaningful shit in the world but his flow is pretty good.
On the thread topic though, I can't give you the 5 greatest rappers of all time cause a lot of that is subjective but my top 5 would be Jay-Z, Wu-Tang(not one rapper but how can I choose), Pac, Eminem, Big L. No particular order by the way.

My favorite rapper is Thirstin Howell III, specifically his album Skillionaire 99'. It's a rather bizarre album, very original, and incredibly funny.

In the song "I Still Live With My Moms" Mr. Howll raps: "I got kicked out, but my mom said I could move back, if I can prove, I didn't steal my sisters food stamps." Brilliance!

    1. Andre 3000- originality, speed, thought provoking, great stroyteller
    2. Black Thought- Just sick the way he executes his points
    3. Eminem- Although fallen off, still nasty, edgy and no one can take back what he did on the first 3 and a half albums (Infinite- some of Eminem Show) and even relapse had its moments.
    4. Mos Def- The true epitome of what a MC is all about, grounded and real as it gets, and the freestyle ability is unbelievable\
    5. Q-Tip- The better end of Tribe IMO, just knew how to keep a stanza going and always has impressed me regarding hios simplicity yet his effectiveness

Yeah, Q-Tip is my favorite artist within Tribe. Love his flow.
