That depends on the player. Some players act like that is what it's all about, and then they go to Denver and fuck some hotel desk girl in the pooper!:evilfire:

I think you're way overstating things. I've lived in both cities, currently LA, and to make a sweeping statement that the entire area is terrible to raise a family or be married in is ridiculous, let alone saying that the people are shitty overall... There are tons of great areas to live around LA, especially when you have a lot of money.

Yes, but that money goes a lot further up here, and Portland is just as nice, and better to raise a family.

No there isn't. The only good places are by the ocean. The rest of LA is a total shithole. AT least for me.

Schools are the shittiest ones in the country, the people are assholes and the property is very expensive.

Beaches, Westside and Pasadena (only exception to the above for raising families)...and even the Westside is debatable.

Camby probably does live by the beach though.

If the rare case happened that all 3 are healthy and performing at a high level we can let Pryzbilla walk or trade him as an expiring. He is a good bench player but I do not consider him a quality starting center in this league. But I do consider Oden and Camby both to be those players. But if you believe Pryzbilla is the same talent level and you believe he will come back 100% then I can see not wanting to resign Camby.

I'm not sure how we "move on" if Oden does get hurt again, does that mean we don't extend his contract and allow him to walk as a free agent? Every other team will know what we do about his injury status. They won't be offering us Carmelo as was rumored at on draft day. They'll be offering us a late first rounder and bench players. Maybe a young underperformer with upside like Bayless. I'd rather keep Oden just as the Cavs kept Big Z for all those years. Eventually Z ended up stringing together multiple healthy productive seasons. Yes that would be a disappointment from what we were hoping for 3 years ago but at this point those are all sunk costs.

I lived over by Hermosa, which was a nice area, but it's super expensive, although not as bad as Beverly Hills.

I'm not saying we shouldn't re-sign him.... I don't think he will have huge contract demands with his current history... but if Oden spends large chunks of next season on the bench with an injury, I would definitely start looking for a young center or someone that could take over that position long term. Big men are such an important part of championships. If Oden ends up injured every season, which is possible but not necessarily likely, we will need to find another long term answer at that position.

 Yeah, I live in Playa del Rey, which is not bad either. I want to move to Manhattan Beach though (although its only 10 minutes away). A lot of the athletes live in Manhattan and Hermosa Beach I think.

    Beverly Hills sucks.

Manhattan is expensive. Nice little community though. I love the whole South Bay area. It doesn't feel like LA at all. Different kind of community. The bars are great too.

I hate to break it to you, but not everyone feels that way. Some on here need to quit with their little-man Napoleon complex and quit hating on every other city just to make themselves feel better. Money goes a lot further in Wyoming too, I imagine.

I'm sorry you live in a shit-hole. But you need to look outside your little world.

Yeah, I live by the beach so its actually nice. 80% of LA is basically a 3rd world shithole though, so in that regard, you are correct. Portland is such a nicer place to live once you want to settle down. LA is a lot better when you're single and have no commitments...that's why people here don't really get married, wheras in Portland, they do (and pretty young).

Are you talking about just LA or the entire area from Orange county to Santa Monica to Pasadena? If you're talking about the latter, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

LA County. Sometimes I group places like San Gabriel Valley or the Inbred Empire in that too. OC is pretty nice though (again, usually only by the beach). I have a general theory that I will only want to ever live West of the 405 freeway.

Most of the shit I don't like is around mid-city, Hollyweird, and the Valley.

You live in the Valley, don't you?

The Portland Metro area has been consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in America.

    http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2009/top100/

West Linn and Lake Oswego both make the top 100.

Sperlings has us in their top 10 most popular places

    http://www.bestplaces.net/

We also make the top 100 on relocate America

    http://top100.relocate-america.com/

Los Angeles doesn't even make the list on most of those sites. We are simply stating a fact that Portland is widely considered one of the best places to live/raise a family. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

The majority of LA is dirty, polluted, and expensive. It's over crowded.

I was never comparing Oregon to Los Angeles, I'm not that insecure. I love Oregon, grew up there and will always call it home. I just don't understand the constant need for Oregonians to diss everything related to Los Angeles. It comes across as insecure and pathetic. But, uh, thanks for all your research... ;)

I hear Californians diss Oregon all the time and I hate that as well. Odd how both cities think they're superior to the other.

    Also, I don't wear panties.

Ptd also has a much higher suicide rate than LA . . . maybe it's because people are getting married earlier in Ptd. :D

Personally I think it is the weather.

LA doesn't think its superior to anyone. Only good thing is the weather and most angelenos know it. the knock on portland is that its a boring city, which it kind of is.
