Download and install this - http://www.peerblock.com/releases

There are lots of legal things to download by bit torrent.

There are also things that aren't so legal.

You're a smart guy so I'll let you figure out which is which.

A little hint, if a movie is still in theaters and you can download it, it's not "technically" legal.

Peerblock will make it a lot harder for illegal downloads to be traced back to you.

So now you're bit torrenting huh? Make sure your virus, spyware, and malware is all up to date, lol.

Also if you're doing movies you're going to need to update your codecs. If you need help ask.

Mostly illegal, and also not worth the risk if you don't know what you're doing.

It's legal as long as you aren't uploading. With that being said, anytime you download anything, you are uploading at the same time, so essentially it is illegal. However, it is illegal for internet service providers to provide a list of their clients, even under these circumstances. So the chances of you getting caught is extremely low. You would only be caught if you download files that are put up by the authorities to lure you guys into downloading it, directly linking you to them. These files are normally easily identifiable. From what I have experienced, these files would be, for example, Avatar the day after it was released. These files normally have an abnormally high number of seeders and leechers under a short period of time.

Essentially, if you're careful, you'll be fine.

there are companies that own some of the stuff people download illegally that also try to follow/track their content being pirated. He is giving a link to a software that makes it harder for the companies/agencies to see you downloading/uploading these things.

That being said torrenting is a pretty cool thing when you think about it. You download individual parts of a file and then might upload immediately after you have downloaded the little parts.

which raises an interesting point. I've heard that about 70% of our youth is pirating something online.

One of my friends had his internet shut off because of something he downloaded. He knew what he was doing, so I don't think he downloaded one of those fake files.

Also, Codec's are like individual languages for the different file types, example you couldn't play a beta max on a vhs player or a mac software on a pc. So the Codec informs your computer how to open the different file types (blah.avi or blah.mpg or blah.mp3).

Go with the stable. But make sure you allow HTTP or you won't be able to surf the net.

Use blogs instead, google search it and find it on blogs. You need to be even smarter though.

Oh, you mean you want to know how to hack them so they start spitting out movies like a broken slot machine?

    That's on the internet too.
